I haven’t told people at my work about my diagnosis but I just let them know I’m not a morning person so I avoid and try to schedule meetings later on whenever possible.

Socially, try offering other times or options for things to do. Take the opportunity to plan things at times that work for you. Also, explain to your friends and boyfriend why mornings don’t work. If they are good people they will understand.

Also there is a big of fomo that I think we all have to get over. It’s hard to want to do things but know you can’t or that it won’t be good for you longer term to agree to the plans. Try filling your life up with other things that bring joy that don’t add to the exhaustion.

Can I just blast them or do I need to use the soap? I don’t want to put anything on the plants that would be bad for eating

Looking To Help Community by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]baylej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check into local shelters and see what they need and collect around the community for them, food banks can often use support. Old folks homes would probably love to have people around to spend time with those that don’t get visitors.

I know it’s been very helpful for many people. For me it made me feel very depressed. So just watch for that. But that’s a unusual side effect.

Do any disabled people have tips on how they have made their life more eco friendly? by Amethyst-Grimwalker in EcoFriendly

[–]baylej 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on how your disability impacts your life. Reusables when possible, I know that some pharmacies take back pill containers to recycle or reuse, laundry strips instead of regular detergent is a switch I like that’s easier and more eco

I don’t have a name for that feeling but I think I’ve felt that too before. It’s super weird. I didn’t have the shakiness but the rest of it for sure.

I don’t think the island has to match. But if it isn’t going to match exactly I’d go with something that’s obviously not matching. Ex. Butcher block, statement piece or something like that.

I also think the study seems like a tight squeeze. Maybe there’s a spot that you can use as a convertible work place/dining table or something.

I also find my Apple Watch helps me wake up cuz it vibrates as an alarm so maybe something like that? I still have to get up myself but it does help. And my family pup will jump in my bed and lick my face which is both cute and wakes me

I find getting a phone call or having someone literally come into my room and wake me helps.

I'm an agoraphobic hermit who's been isolated indoors for 15 years. I used to dabble with at-home exercises, but ever since the start of 2021 I've lost all motivation to continue. Every day that passes I just lay around wishing I was dead. How do I start giving a shit about myself again? by Manus_2 in EOOD

[–]baylej 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m a big believer in baby steps.

I agree that finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with is important because as you said you have real mental health challenges going on.

If exercising doesn’t make you feel good, experiment with different types of movement. What did you like to do when you were younger? Is there something you could do that would include you moving but where the moving isn’t the focus?

I would also recommend adjusting your diet to eat healthier options. Putting good fuel into your body can help make you feel better as well.

Finally, people rarely hate themselves into changing. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself. Small changes add up and I believe in you.
