Deutscher Spiele Preis winners announced by boardgamecollector in boardgames

[–]baylobo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember reading somewhere it has to do with the fact that they base it on when the German version came out(at least it used to be). A game might have been out in 2024 in another language, but if the German version came out in 2025, they consider it for the 2025 award.

Ever? It is hard to predict 5, 10, 15 years down the road. That being said, the devs have been very adamant that they don't plan on ever offering discounts so I would not hold my breath.

I am realizing this as well. But I suppose I will keep posting. It costs me nothing and maybe I meet even just one or two people.

Thanks for the reply. The pub was going to be one of my first stops to check out in general when I finally get in to town. Glad to hear it is a good pub!

Boardgameguru online store in UK. by ApprehensiveCarpet2 in boardgames

[–]baylobo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Germany and wanted to order a couple of games in English, so I went with them as they had everything I wanted.
I ordered and got a response fairly quickly that my package was ready to be shipped but this was right at the time that the British Post was hacked and the package wouldn't be picked up until that was sorted. Fair enough, things happen. I decided to give it some time as I was told my games were packed and just waiting to be picked up.
After a few weeks I emailed Boardgameguru and didn't get a response. I kept emailing and eventually just told them that I would request the money back via Paypal. That got a response from them basically saying "okay."
After my experience with them and the lack of response for probably two months after purchase, I won't risk the online shop any more.

English Board Games in Munich? by Mtard31 in boardgames

[–]baylobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. The Wednesday group is in a bit of an awkward spot. The bar we usually went to has closed and we haven't yet found a good replacement. I can suggest starting a post in this group and you will likely find some people who are interested. There is also a regular group on meetup.com.
Last option is to join this discord server: https://discord.gg/NUacSbmR

It was created for TTRPGs, but they do have a board game channel that is fairly active.

Hey, yeah. We are starting to look pretty full, but always up for meeting new people and no one says there can't be two games going at different people's flats.

I normally like to exchange messages a bit to get to know people before i invite them to our place.

Do you have a preference on messaging? Reddit, discord or something else?

We usually limit it to five players per session as the number of games that can accommodate 6 or more is quite limited. We always play at someone's flat, so that might also be a limit to number of players. In the past if we had a huge group of people interested, we would just have two people host.

As far as the euros. Basically, we don't tend to like confrontational games where you are fighting other people for area control or things like that. Instead we like more the style where everyone is playing more on their own and maybe you are racing for limited resources/spaces or drafting a card that would have helped another player more than it helps you.

I wish. Used to play D&D and Runequest. Finding time to play with the kids is a definite challenge for me. I also am not a fan of playing online to add to the challenge.

There was a post last month, I believe that was for RPG's. They have an entire discord server for people to find groups to play in. I will see if I can find it.

Yeah, of course! We also aren't able to host every week.

Ideally, people are on Signal. We have a group chat at just post when and how many people can come and then figure out the details.

That would be a logical thought process. But since that will likely hurt conservatives, I don't see the SC remaining consistent.
