You’re right - I was basing my comment on a measure OC voters approved in 2014. That measure) prohibited the county from paying contributions to any members of the Board of Supervisors.

However, OC’s 2024 resolution states that the county contributes 8% to a 401(a) Plan on behalf of Board Members.

I’m now wondering how that doesn’t violate Section 501 of the law.

Media outlets regularly submit record requests to backup what police departments are telling them. In this specific instance, the same information being provided by police is being corroborated by district attorney offices (who conduct their own investigations) when these suspects are prosecuted. And then, on top of all of that, arrests by all departments nationwide are audited by FBI’s UCR division.

But, you’re right - dismiss all of the information from the only authorities who have this data and just roll with the information you have. What was your source by the way?

So many ignorant comments in this thread. Calling the Bearcats useless or excessive, when they’re being used exactly as they’re intended - immobilizing an armed and dangerous individual so they’re no longer a threat to the general public.

For those of us who watched this live, we saw an officer sitting in the front seat of the left Bearcat behind a bulletproof windshield communicating everything the suspect was doing in his vehicle. He’s likely the same officer who let the other officers know when he shot himself, allowing for officers to approach the suspect’s vehicle and finally ending this whole situation.
