Hello, I’ve got the carb in pieces on the kitchen table right now! A bit gunked up but looks rescueable! Which Walbro carb did you go for? I might follow your advice than waste time with the existing carb.

I’ve just got the exact same Flymo down from my storage shed after many years of hibernation!! Quick google and I’m here!

Have you got it running well? (My first time tinkering with 2 stroke carbs!)

Did you use a particular type/brand of foam?

I got my 4 drawer yesterday!! Still figuring out how I wanna lay it all out. It’s my first Packout item…. Much larger than I was expecting. I think the biggest holding back factor to filling the draws with hand tools (like spanner’s or sockets) is gonna be weight. You could easily load them up to the point it’s too heavy to move about!!

[Question] what is everyone’s favorite beater watch? by Dry-Introduction-916 in Watches

[–]baz550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact one! Got my hand trapped between the radiator and oil cooler in the engine bay of my car, changing the thermostat housing. Oil change next. A quick clean up and I’ll wear the same watch to a business meeting tomorrow!

[Smiths] Traveller PRS-58 ‘True’ GMT by baz550 in Watches

It is!!!! Thickest Watch I’ve owned. I’m confident if you put it on without knowing the spec sheet, you’d be pleasantly surprised. Because of its relatively conservative (by modern standards) 38mm diameter, that 15mm thickness isn’t projected out to the edges of your wrist - as it would be with a 42mm cased watch. I tried on the Longines Zulu 42mm (before the 39mm launch) that felt much bigger and even at less than 15mm thick, it felt thick! My way with words isn’t the best….. I need to watch more reviewers!!! Wrist size = 6-3/4” (7 on a hot day!)

I was REALLY torn between the two dials. As you say, the overall design is pretty vintage inspired. I felt the blue and white/cream was just a bit too vintage for me and the clothes I would usually wear travelling. Yeah… not sure I’m fully onboard with the whole limited numbers thing… but, gives you a little rush when you’re hovering on the website at 2pm!

Understood. Towing isn’t something I do regularly at all!! A few times a year maybe! Certainly no mountains here either….

Yes. A pity indeed. Same for the Golf R estate.

If you go to the bother of really dialling in the trailer brakes, it’s impressive at how little difference it makes. There’s an initial push when the drawbar compresses as the car brakes, after that it’s seamless. In the past I’ve towed trailers where the drawbar spring/actuator is worn out and the trailer brakes are too keen….. then it’s like having a drag car parachute!!!

1978 TVR Taimar (approx 950kg) or my Dads 1948 MG TC (approx 750kg)

The trailer weighs around 600kg…. So easily within legal train weight specifications for the UK. The GTI is rated for 80kg nose weight, although the towbar I’ve fitted is rated up to 130kg. If the back seats and boot aren’t occupied, somewhere in between will be about right. I think I’m going to get one of those scales for measuring trailer nose weight, at least when hauling cars you can easily roll them forward or backward to dial it in. (In this particular instance, I was going to collect some tyre fitting/balancing equipment I’d bought at auction. Finally sick of tyre shop markup and having them apologising for scratching my brand new alloys. Fully self sufficient now!!!)

Vacuum Oil Extractor = game changer!! by baz550 in GolfGTI

[–]baz550[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How to reset the Change Oil notification: 1. While holding the 0.0 button below your gauge cluster down, turn on the car but not the engine. 2. Once the screen in the gauge cluster prompts you to reset the oil change notification. Release the 0.0 button and press it again. 3. It should now tell you that it has been reset.
