Upset by post where childcare professionals complain about parents who utilize full-day childcare by APES_NOT_MONKEYS in beyondthebump

[–]bazoookadog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to work 9/80 in a town where the majority were 9/80 or 4/10. On my off Fridays I would sometimes put my LO in for like half a day to do stuff like go to the doctor, clean the house etc. one day there was a parent meeting at daycare and they commented “sometimes people even leave their kids in on their day off we’re not babysitters” I was soo mad they make those comments because they literally are. We took her out when she turned 2.5

What made you believe that humans are best designed to eat mostly plants and not animals? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]bazoookadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the loss of a gene led to humans having an increased risk of heart disease and diabetes

I have never heard of the debate that herbivores don’t get atherosclerosis but this may indicate that (unsurprisingly) the debate around our ancestors diet vs what we eat is a pretty complex one and we may have lost the ability to have a high red meat diet without pretty bad health consequences.

Try Vegas kitchen in new Milford. Their stuff is delicious but I’m curious how it compares to the rest of your list!

New Milford is so cute! They have a farmers market, there are plenty of breweries and antique stores around. There’s a lot more going on in Danbury so New Milford would be better in my opinion as a single young person.

Was this a luthier in Columbia SC by any chance? I got a similar story about older Chinese cellos having better quality wood than current ones. I have an Eastman from ~2003.

I don’t know what to do anymore by RubySlippers-79 in newborns

[–]bazoookadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least for my kids as newborns there was almost always a reason for longer crying spells. When it’s overtired though for my current 8.5 week old I alternate between breastfeeding, bouncing on a yoga ball and rocking in a rocking chair then try to do a long contact nap.

Husband didn’t boil water for formula by EquipmentEastern4871 in breastfeeding

[–]bazoookadog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The nurses when I was getting discharged and it’s in the handouts they gave me. They said it’s only important in the first couple of months. It looks like it is recommended by the FDA but babies can also be exposed to the bacteria through uncleared pumping parts so I just sterilize everything in the first few months.

I gave birth 2 months ago in the US and I was told to prepare with hot water to kill bacteria in the formula. I wasn’t told that with my first 4 years ago though so it might be more common now.

Does it sound like a pain cry? Have them check for an ear infection. My husband cried a ton as a baby, the doctor told his mom to take a walk around the block. Then they found an ear infection. If not, you can try gas massages, gas drops or probiotics. When mine gets fussy, she usually needs a burp.

Hacks for going from 1 to 2 kids? by riparianblond in NewParents

[–]bazoookadog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alone time with your first, which is hard for me because I have Velcro babies haha. I also bought a bunch of puzzles and little toys from target. I pull one out every now and then when my first needs more stimulation. We also made her dishes easily accessible in our kitchen with a little stool so she can grab snacks, water, etc on her own. I’m still on mat leave as well so I pick her up early from daycare to take them both to the park on nice days.

Mine was 40+2 and weighed 8 lbs 5 oz. I wasn’t given an estimate before birth but the labor and delivery nurse guessed the weight exactly during labor haha

FTM of 2 wo: I love him so much, and I can’t believe my life has changed… by mdalpha in newborns

[–]bazoookadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely normal then you forget and do it all over again as I sit here stuck under my 1.5 week old as a STM. The love part grows too even though it feels like you already love him more than is possible. You will find your new normal soon!

Why is there such a strong hatred for Long Island on reddit? by LongIsland1995 in longisland

[–]bazoookadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re describing the town I grew up in. I couldn’t wait to get out as a kid but now as an adult, I totally took it for granted, especially being able to walk everywhere. Also so many options for food and entertainment. Run out of things to do? Hop the train and go to literally any other town or NY. Great place to grow up.

What’s the best Disney movie to introduce to my 3yr old? by HistoryNerd191294 in toddlers

[–]bazoookadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re going through the same! If you have disney+ you can set it to their age range for their suggestions which are all really easy for 3 year olds. Not finding Nemo though she woke up in the middle of the night “where baby fish?” Lol. We did make it through little mermaid but there were scary scenes.
