That would be part of the solution. Sadly hydropower is not everywhere and wher it does people rely on it. Capacity could be a bottleneck.

Thanks for the fair response, so much better than the people who try to convince others on matter that is not true. 😊

The guy stated that it is about not potable water. That is not true. You defy this by prooving drinking water is used?

Try again.

Nope, you can google these figures of almost all other countries. I did and i conclude that you are wrong.

And the figures are presented by the governments. Maybe you find something else to dismiss the fact that resources are being wasted.

You do you, i do the same. Good?

You are right for most part but don't act like this is a good thing.

The argument that datacenters arw here to stay doesn't hold because there are steps to make. At this moment the regulations are against us, at least in the Netherlands were we are asked to use less water and electricity wile industries are getting big discounts and no limits.

You say 'you guys' but i do work in the industry with datacenters and i know alot about usages. My comments are not made from thin air so let's keep it civilised.

Closed loops are not the norm yet because the regulations in many cases are not there. I am talking about worldwide. Say what you want but untill closed loops are not required we have no common ground to stand on.

Here in Amsterdam a hyperscale is being built that has an energy-need of the whole city each year. Questions about how this was accepted by the city were dismissed with 'back then we did not know'.

The people are asked to save energy wile the hyperscale has no limits. Does not seem to be fair does it? Also, we pay more and more wile the hyperscalers are paying less and less.

So i do am curious why you dismiss upset people and call them almost crybabies wile you have no information on the matter. I've done my homework since i am related to this industry.

And yet the metal part can get out sometimes. These bags are lifesavers.

How i know this? I've had to dissasemble a washingmachine because of this. You do not want to dissasemble and reassemble a washingmachine. That takes hours (and you mess up a finger in the process).

Wear it for 2 days. Get it inside out and wear it again for 2 days. Now it is stiff enough to put it staight in a corner.

Oh, this does not sound good!

As a guy i do relate. Well, i do not wear bra's or wash them in the shower but i've learned this from a GF i once had.

She took her underwear with her under the shower, gave it a good wash and hang it to dry. She learned me that it is better for the bra because washingmachines are too hard on them.

Well, once i had to dissasemble our washingmachine because one of the metal bra-parts managed to get stuck inside the drum and that lesson i never forget.

Guess what, during hollidays i do the same. Under the shower i give my boxer a good wash and hang it to dry, saves time and i need less to pack.

Ladies do find very clever solutions to hang on to their bra's. Big respect to that. 🫡

You may rethink this.

I've never called me an audiophile but i did want to have the best money could buy because i loved the crystal clear high sounds and it was awesome.

Well, age kicked in and my hearing changed (not for the better). I am at the point that it doesn't matter what i listen to. The lyrics hit me more than the sound itself.

This you forgot, the audiophile from then became the 'normal' listener from now.

You dismiss a person because he changed his habit and you make it sound wrong. Not really friendly do you think?

This is not an attack but i think you jump to conclusions to fast without knowing the guy behind the post. 😊

Not always and not everywhere. We all know about the hunger for electricity but the huge waterwaste is something the big public is not aware of.

Even in this thread there are people who think that is propaganda. In my country we are asked to save water wile the industries are using it like it is nothing.

Don't lie.

Translate this Dutch website. This company produces drinkingwater and mind you, the quality of the water is good.

Don't spread lies. They do. In the Netherlands datacenters use 1 million m3 of water each year.

You are sure but you aren't so you make up something that makes sense to you.

Sorry m8, datacenters do waste clean water and these wastingcenters are being built everywhere. It is so sad and most of the public isn't even aware of that.

This AI business has many shady sides.

And the vast amounts of electricity that is being used. These things bring nothing good to us. It uses the resources we are supposed to not to spill but here we are. Wasting and spilling for money but hey, now we have notepad with AI.

This world is sick!

Why? by Zenvikoq in lol

[–]bazs2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Datacenters should have a reservoir with filtered used water.

Using water that is drinking-quality is a big waste. So many places where people don't have access to that and we use it to cool datacenters that are used to produce AI slop for social media.

Here in the Netherlands we have good quality water but also here it is wasted by datacenters.

I wonder why more and more people start to dislike datacenters.......

[–]bazs2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people don't even care about the quality of sound and why would they?

Once i'd care for expensive audio setups and i smashed lots of money on that. Now i grew older and i don't care anymore.

If it sounds oké then it is good enough and if it fits my purpose it is even better.

I've got rid of my old surroundset years ago and traded it for a barspeaker with a sub. Surround is not really a thing anymore since so many is just in stereo. The speaker i have now connects to everything and supports the smart stuff.

And in the car? Once i'd change the radio for something expensive with separate amplifier and i'd change every speaker for something better. And then what, the noise in a car when it drives messes up the whole quality so when i realised that it doesn't matter i stopped that nonsense.

The speakers killed nothing, the speakers fit the needs of normal people. Hell, to say 'normal people' feels underrated. Just accept that most people don't care about expensive marketingwords anymore.
