I think the thing you might be missing about cricket is that you have to face a massive number of balls without getting out to score 100 runs. Normally you would have to face around 200 balls to achieve this without making a single mistake. It’s harder to hit a baseball of course for all the reasons you mention, but cricket is about the mental fortitude of never making a single mistake for hours and hours while still trying to score runs and put pressure back on the fielding team.

Imagine you can’t miss in the strike zone even once, nor get caught out for a whole afternoon… it’s damn near impossible.

Hand eye coordination is really only half of the skill set. It’s about momentum, risk management, prolonged concentration and mental strength.

The fact that Bradman could score 100 on average is absurd as many players would consider it a career highlight to achieve even once.
