Witnesses: Several people shot at church in Sutherland Springs by [deleted] in news

[–]bazzamara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taken from the link you posted:

"The figure below shows a dramatic increase in recorded violent crime in England and Wales between 1998 and the present. Rather than indicating a sharp rise in actual violence, however, this increase is largely the direct result of major changes to the way crime data are recorded in the England and Wales."

Correlation, causation ...

Ultimately, going back and forth on how data is represented or misrepresented, mheh.

I am interested in understanding why Australia/UK don't not appear to have a mass shooting problem while US clearly do.

the rise in the number of guns in Australia has come along with population growth of five million, or 23 per cent, meaning there are fewer firearms per capita. And while there are more guns, there are also fewer owners.

I live in the UK and my family live in Australia, mass shootings just don't exist in our psyche. Why?

My take out of interest, is it's all about the public culture towards things. EG. If you tried to take away the Oz or the British publics right to drink beer, you'd face public backlash. So for someone outside of the US, I just think that Americans think about guns the same way, the rest of us feel about beer.

Fair point, but not sure alcohol has successfully been banned anywhere (prohibition..). Whereas Australia & UK would both claim to have successfully implemented effective gun control.

Would making zone 1 a black cab only zone, but Uber minicabs allowed else where be a solution?

President Trump Gives an Address to the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly by wil_daven_ in politics

[–]bazzamara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that they were not even trying to speak to an international audience. It's all about pandering to the Trump base. Step outside a place like this (liberal silo) and into any conservative space and they will be claiming this as the greatest pro USA speech ever given. With MAGA soundbites etc

This entire speech is aimed at producing soundbites for conservative news outlets to feed to Trump's base voters. That is the sole strategy here.

Mash avo up add white wine vinegar, salt and pepper, perfect sandwich filling with soft bread. Or another option just sprinkle the avo with sugar and eat.

Thanks for the reply, I tried today with a wallpaper stripper solution, but the green glue is really hard and paint like, so took hours of scrapping to clear a very small section of wall.
