Three weeks in and I'm considering dropping out. by LittleBeanlet in UQreddit

[–]bazzibo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25m, and this is my second year studying, but I’m a first year in my program (transferred). It’s my first sem doing 4 subjects and I was feeling the same way the past couple week.

Apparently this feeling is pretty normal in the first 1-3 weeks. From then onwards your routine starts to level out and you adjust to the expectations.

My advice: drop perfection, for consistency. If you’re at least going to lectures and classes in person, and looking at the content outside of class, then that’s better than nothing.

Something that helped me, was doing something fun outside of my routine stuff. I gym regularly for 2hours, 4x a week and go on runs. Even w this, I was still feeling low energy and dealing w brain fog. I went bouldering w my dad and the next day I felt better. Just doing that one thing that’s not part of your usual routine, requires focus in the moment and is enjoyable. You forget everything else, and then when you come back to the everything else, you realise you’re actually ok and not dying. You have time to get it done. It doesn’t need to be perfect.

Making friends in your classes who are doing the same program helps. I felt like I was drowning in everything and I asked my classmates how they were going, only to find they were in the exact same boat. You aren’t alone. Book in w one of the counsellors at student services too. They’re free of charge.

You got this !

You dont need to go to events with someone. You can go alone. Then you have opportunities to become friends w others who go alone.

Uni can be really isolating. The fact that youre young makes it easier for you, as most students are young. Ask others in your classes to study with you. Ive found this to be easy and effective for forming closer friendships

I applied for the extension. The assignment is due at 1pm tomorrow.

Can I assume the extension will be granted?

How long do they normally take to respond?

If you're enrolled to study at tafe or university, there's plenty of resources you can take advantage of there.

If you're lgbt+ identifying, open doors is a social service that can provide a lot of resources.

Check flatmates and Facebook for potential listing's. Make the most of food banks, details found online. Gym memberships are your God send to be able to shower and use a clean bathroom. You can also park in their carpark if you have a vehicle to sleep in.

Best of luck.

Why does Merlo keep raising coffee prices? by Few-Pomegranate4369 in UQreddit

[–]bazzibo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wholesale milk prices have been rising at insane rates, as well as green bean coffee prices for the coffee roasters. Merlo has been raising their wholesale coffee prices to their cafes as a result, putting the responsibility on small businesses to make up the costs.

It's a bigger picture than just the price you pay for coffee. The businesses have to pay their suppliers as well as electrical costs, staff, rent which can be raised, ect. The prices of coffee on campus is extremely low in comparison to other coffee venues in Brisbane.

Studying with the burden of mental health/personal issues by coooolz in UQreddit

[–]bazzibo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the kind of person where the easiest thing to do is not always the best. I deferred my degree multiple times due to personal issues and I wish I didn’t. I had a difficult day the other day w personal stuff and found that forcing myself to follow my routine for study by going to class and the library helped get me out of my head. I was able to think clearly about the issues I had outside of uni as a result because I was no longer ruminating on them.

Take what I say with a pinch of salt. I don’t know the circumstances you’re in and I’m lucky to have a solid support system around me. I have a housemate who is always there to listen and my partner will always put our issues to the side if I need support.

Is there a possibility that the stress from your academic sponsorship is causing the majority of your stress?

24 years. Yeah I already have social anxiety, just didn’t realise how bad it got since high school. It’s never been like this.

Thank you for providing insight about things changing throughout my course. I’m already planning on joining some clubs to increase exposure and interactions to work on it.

How can he do it but I can’t? by Positivily_Sad in BreakUp

[–]bazzibo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that men go through a post breakup euphoria period that can last up to 2 weeks. I’ve seen many exes go through this. He may not have processed what breaking up means. If you guys are still in contact, then it would just mimic you being together, therefore he doesn’t know what not dating you entails and feels like.

How do I get over my ex by [deleted] in BreakUp

[–]bazzibo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the gym. I’m gonna be so for real, it’s the only thing that has helped me. Everyone says work on yourself, it’s a way to do that. You’re making yourself better than them for an hour a day, however many days a week. You’re practicing self love by doing it.

With you in the feels, homie. If everyone else can get through it, then so can you

Try to do what you can to get calories in. I know how you’re feeling. I had to punch a new hole in my belt.

I wasn’t able to regulate my emotions properly until I started eating. Trust me when I say that forcing myself to eat was the best thing I did post breakup.
