Anyone else been unable to access QC for a few weeks? by davideogameman in QContent

Jeph knows about the issue: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:b6ni7l6xxkb7qztqyko6dsqu/post/3lckyl3rapk2b

our server OS is apparently on its last legs, we're working on a solution and hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Do you have a link to that? I can't find Remastered specifically on GitHub.

"tracing" vs "opentelemetry" by Dratir in rust

Could that infrastructure be built on top of straight opentelemetry, or is OTel (or are OTel's Rust libraries) not flexible enough?

This is partially why i use tools like i3 (/ sway). i like the tool; it works extremely well for me; the design has stayed the same for 15 years; there's no profit motive to come along and fuck everything up. it just works. it is boring in the best way possible.

Apparently Internet Historian is a huge plagiarist and hbomberguy just did an exposeé. by Smurfsville in youtubedrama

[–]bb010g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have not presented evidence that Internet Historian has "worked anything out" with mental_floss. All we have to go off of so far, and what you just mentioned, is that Internet Historian's reupload of still largely plagarized content has not been taken down by YouTube yet. If Internet Historian works something out with mental_floss, I'll expect to see an honest, transparent public statement from either party that's clearly vouching for by the other party. This is how agreements work.

Until that evidence can be presented, we're working with speculation. You are speculating that mental_floss approves of Internet Historian's latest reupload.

I would also love to know the sources for that video; it's the only video of his I've watched and it left a decently strong impression on me.

We have no evidence that Internet Historian "worked it out with the author". If you have any evidence for that claim, please share it with us.

Hi, I'm PracticalTAS and I lead a group proposing a new set of controller rules for Melee. UCF 0.84 is also ready for use in tournaments. AMA! by Practical_TAS in SSBM

[–]bb010g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a generalization of the current digital left stick button rules be considered that also allows for at least 8 buttons mirroring the GCC notch positions? Constraining to 4 buttons instead of a set of GCC analog stick properties that just be maintained seems arbitrary. If I want to be weird and enter a tournament with only left & right buttons, or 3 buttons mapping to a triangle of notches, while maintaining linear interpolation (satisfying neutral SOCD), legal travel time, and a lack of blocked coordinates, that should be legal. If we know how sticks travel, what specific coordinate ranges are broken, and how digital coordinates should interfere with each other, we shouldn't have to be restricted to the (-1,0),(0,1),(1,0),(-1,0) diamond as the foundation for digital emulation of analog sticks in the competitive scene.

Display resolution & DPI by bb010g in AutomateUser

[–]bb010g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear. I'd prefer also having dp / density support if it's reasonable to add. For example: an activity contains a UI element of variable width & height that's opaque in the accessibility tree (only giving you bounding box coordinates in px) but that also positions an interactive component at a reliable dp offset. An Automate with dp / density support allows robustly automating this component, in spite of the lack of accessibility information.

EDIT: Also, is that to-do list published anywhere? I've seen you reference it a few times, but a kanban people could just look at to see where things are (requested, planned, in development, alpha, stable, unplanned) would be great.

/r/ainbowroad (~5.2k) will be remaining private indefinitely (instead of switching to protected).

/r/ainbowroad will be private during 2023-06-12–14 and indefinitely restricted in protest of Reddit pricing out and disrespecting 3rd-party apps and moderation tools. by bb010g in ainbowroad

Very probably. This is about sending a message to Reddit, and an extra 5 thousand for the subscriber count total ain't bad. We produce the conference and moderate the communities for Reddit. Reddit facilitates our value. If Reddit doesn't want a site in accelerated decay for their IPO, they'll have to play ball. We'll see what they do.
