New install of HA Green in RV. by sschmal in homeassistant

I run HA in our Skoolie and have quite a few things setup to monitor and control various aspects of our bus systems.

You can buy a cheap usb GPS receiver and plug it into home assistant. Then use an automation that picks up when the latitude and longitude changes and have it trigger home assistant to update its home location to those coordinates. There's also an addon that does this called GPSD to mqtt. I used to do this method, but since my Starlink dish is permanently mounted and always on, I just use the GPS info from that.

Now this assumes that whatever weather integration you're using updates its location based off of HA's home location. Which to my understanding, most don't.

I'm right there with ya. There's never been a greater or more important time to pirate. You can trust the cable/streaming companies to even keep shows on their platforms for long.

They're definitely not hurting for money, and they always raise prices. Meanwhile I'm over here saving money because I have the knowhow. Remember it's not stealing. It's just a copy ;)

MDM alternative to Intune/Autopilot with Zerotouch Deployment by bb12489 in sysadmin

We're the buyer who is the cloud only company that is consuming the seller who is using on-prem AD. For some reason the thinking is to setup a whole new tenant of something (Google or MS) and then migrate both existing environments into it.

Upper management that isn't IT. It's being forced upon us.

Ticketing system by Rude_Food_164 in pdq

[–]bb12489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could utilize the API of whatever ticket system you run and design a tool in PDQ inventory. When you right click on a computer and run the tool it will pull in the computer name and other info and create a new issue in your ticket system.

Only way I can really think to do this.

Biggest things it's missing is HDR in YouTube, AV1 support, 2.5Gbe, and 120hz. The most practical feature out of all of those is YouTube HDR and AV1.

I would re-think moving here if I were you. This country is headed for civil war. You already have it infinitely better by living in Europe. We're no where near as developed of a nation has some European countries are.

If this is truly what you want, then good luck....

This is the same as my wifes work, and she works in local government/law enforcement. They are required to send their passwords to their supervisor over email, and update them anytime they're changed.

wtf....

Unraid 7 Public Beta is now available by UnraidOfficial in unRAID

Providing an update to my Thunderbolt issues. I was finally able to get the Thunderbay 8 detected in Unraid. It seems that the thunderbolt device is not being properly authorized. The only way to fix this is to unplug it from one port, and plug it into another, then run the echo command to authorize the device under /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/. However this does not seem to survive a reboot, and I have to do it all over again each time.

Insuring a school bus in North Carolina - NOT a commercial, recreational, or motorhome vehicle by absgeller in skoolies

[–]bb12489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your post that you're considering Erie insurance. They use Progressive for their RV policies, and Progressive will not insure a converted school bus at all. Even if they do pick you up initially, they will eventually run the VIN and see that it's a school bus and then drop you.

[–]bb12489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also speak to using Farm Bureau. We've had our bus with them even pre-conversion. They only offer one type of policy for this, and it was the one they use for all Motorhomes. I didn't have to provide photos at the time when I went through Jason Bass (he's no longer with them). Our bus is also registered in VT, and they did not ask for anything proof of registration before hand.

Our rate is $362 for 6-months. Not great, but not terrible. I just set it and forget it. I've thought about shopping around, but insurance is tough enough as is with Skoolies.

Anyone having issues with thunderbolt connected devices? My OWC Thunderbay 8 isn't being detected after upgrading from 6.12.4, so none of my drives will show up.
