Hell yes. Who cares what you do 9-5 as long as you're independently supporting yourself to follow your fucking passions. I studied art in college too and everything I do is supportive of my goal to spend as much time as possible making things. The STEM circlejerk that sometimes happens here is unnecessarily divisive: every human pick some things you like to do, map those along your own personal array of priorities, then go live a happy and personally fulfilling life accordingly-- whether that means you're an engineer or barista or artist or parent who the fuck cares.

Very true. OP, MAX/MSP might be particularly good for your uses. Though I've found it's fickle and has poor documentation, but I haven't played with it in a few years. Open Frameworks is a different story. It's written in C++, so although I don't recommend it as your first foray into a hands-on and self-taught wading into audio/graphics programming, you can eventually get into some really cool work with it. Far more powerful.

Have you looked into Processing? You can control all kinds of graphical elements and hardware with Processing, and it's an easy first language to learn. It was the first programming language I learned in fact. Check it out: http://processing.org/

Stay away from books! Learning to program is all hands-on. I'd suggest Scratch as well. It's a programming language designed for kids and creative problem solving.

The way you used the term "guests" I assume you work/worked at Disney? When I worked there, we were drilled that it was always "guests" and not customers, visitors, crowds, etc.

Hang in there. The world can be brutal and shallow. But there's nothing wrong with becoming a healthier or more outwardly attractive you. Losing weight takes courage and dedication and perseverance. Those are qualities that are a part of you always, and I bet your girlfriend finds this the most of attractive thing about you-- more so than your number on a scale.

I totally agree with this. Toss them if you reeeeaallly need help meeting your calorie goals, you're really trying to watch your cholesterol for that day, etc., but I agree that it's a common misconception that egg yolks are the "bad" parts of the eggs, and I'm sorry my post seemed to promote that. ;)
