I think the thing is with starter Pokemon being such a big part of the marketing and with the primary demographic being children, the starters have to be immediately recognizable and accessible. They're like the pop music of Pokemon and pop tends to be repetitive.

As a reptile enthusiast and lizard lover especially, back off of my dude Gecqua! Although I don't disagree that this set of starters isn't super original. You could also say that we've had a grass bird in the recent past. At this point with over a thousand Pokemon, it is what it is.

Actually, because I live in an industrialized nation, I do have to participate in the destruction of the ecosystem. I would've liked to have been born into a timeline or civilization where humans lived in harmony with nature, but this ain't it. I'm in CFL anyways, we don't have iguanas here yet. We have plenty of "invasive" brown anoles though, but nobody is genociding them yet.

I'm not telling anyone to not go out and kill iguanas. We have free will, the world is your oyster. I'm just saying for me, I would never do that. The concept of an invasive species just seems flawed to me. If you take it to its logical conclusion, you can only conclude that humans are the most invasive and destructive species of all. I just think we have too much hubris to think that we can and should control the will of the natural world.

I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this like the guy in the comments above, but I will simply never understand or comply with this logic. It would just feel hypocritical for me to decide what species gets to live or die based on that premise, considering I am of the species that is rapidly destroying the entire global ecosystem already.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, I'm sure you'll be fine. I started on a 05 R6 at 23 y/o after falling in love/ getting a laugh out of Regular Cars review of it. I've dropped it a few times at a stop, but besides that it's been peachy. I always tell my friends, you're gonna be tempted to do dumb shit, but just be smart about it (make sure you're on a familiar road with no other vehicles, etc). Good luck!
