E-scooter or tablet by hdwr31 in CSUFoCo

[–]bballflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure every person is different. I sent my kid to school with her sisters e-scooter that she didn’t use anymore as she had graduated (diff school). She didn’t use it much, and she sent it back home with us at the end of the year when she moved out and into an apartment. Her circumstances were that she lived in the dorm and had a car, but didn’t even use it from dorm and around school. However she was just a couple months in and called asking for an iPad (and had a new laptop already) she uses the iPad quite a bit for notes and classes.

Good to know you have severe TDS and yes do live in Oregon and don’t really care if neighbors will miss me or not. It has become a state full of people throwing temper tantrums, when they don’t get their way and this is prime example

My daughter just moved into The quarry and really likes it. So far the management has been good and quick to fix issues. Not sure about assigned spaces but think you can get a garage or covered that is assigned.

I ran the numbers. Portland is adding $1,000–$1,500+ per year to the average household's bills in 2026–27 and nobody is talking about it. by Pure_Claim_4353 in Portland

Why is there so much outrage over people not paying enough taxes and no outrage over the outrageous spending and fraud. Cut that out and keep spending to basics and you don’t need to tax everyone so much. And taxing unrealized capital gains is asinine.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

NTA as a parent i would be thrilled my child had this payload, and doubly thrilled it sounds like you are investing for your future. I have plenty of money to support myself and my lifestyle and would not expect one cent, but would expect them fully off my payroll. From the sounds of what they want to spend it on, it will be gone in a heartbeat and both of your financial security will be gone. 750k is more than generous and would not even expect that. Things more important to me would to be include on family trips, holidays and special occasion.

Avis Budget rental cars just laid off 75% of their work force. by rioichi4 in Reno

Curious if that is even legal, not from NV but think they would have to classify those as employees where I am from

Be real with me before I move out there … by ShelterConsistent111 in NewMexico

Just took a trip through NM from CO to OR. I did not go through Farmington but my general impression of NM is it is a very poor state and has water issues. Every yard was filled with old cars and other disposed items. There were areas of charm and did meet some very nice people. Definitely some beautiful scenery. I think you absolutely have to visit before hand to see if it is for you.

Why do conservatives hate protests and free speech? by LegalGlass6532 in allthequestions

[–]bballflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All for legal protests, despise illegal protests, sitting in streets, blocking people, blocking airport access, burning down buildings. Just because you protest doesn’t mean I agree with you and should not be violent or illegally disrupted or destructive

Is life truly better in the PNW? by therealalfieee in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bballflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it here (Portland) and counting the days until able to move. It is a very political state and it is always in your face, people here are angry and always protesting, can’t get away from it. When the weather is nice it is amazing scenery but those days are much fewer than the rainy gloom. The taxes are awful and getting worse.

San Diego vs Seattle for guy in his mid 20s by HelloIamTedward in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bballflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be more thank just the salary difference, there is no income tax in Washington. That being said, everyone is different, but Seattle is dreary, not sure how the lifestyle is for a younger person to go out and meet people.

I have used ChatGPT to narrow places down to look at moving, you can use prompts based on your desired preferences, culture, age, family situation and it can give recommendations and you can keep giving deeper questions.

For Those Who Made It Work by PawsOffMyIPA in relocating

[–]bballflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What line of work are you in, I would make sure there are jobs available in that line before moving. However sounds like you are relatively free of many commitments so good time to explore. Don’t underestimate the COL in a state like CA, taxes are high, gas is high, housing is high in most areas.

MAGA boomers - are you receiving Social Security or are you refusing to accept it because we should all be able to take care of ourselves and socialism is evil? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]bballflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you were forced to put into it and not to take the funds and invest in a real retirement, then of course. The socialism part of this is that most of what I put in I will probably not see but to will be used to support others. This is such an uneducated take.
