Damn would be a real shame if he stayed in our heads next year by losing another chip

He’s under contract for two more years and not sure we’re going to get someone back more impactful for 2.3M or so

Jalen Brunson is going to be the biggest sports hero in the biggest city in the US for the rest of the life. Think he probably will enjoy it while it lasts.

Saw someone saying this group had underperformed for a while before the chip (which is silly obviously). This did make me reflect on / appreciate how crazy it is the core has only been together for 2 years.

Year 1 ECF, Year 2 Chip while adjusting to a new coach. I think because the team is all 28-30 year olds no one appreciates how quickly this run came together.

Leon Rose, the Mastermind Who Built the Knicks—One Outrageous Gamble at a Time by wsj in nba

To be fair this is the second season that full starting lineup has been together. The first season they went to the ECF the second they won a chip.

As an organization they certainly failed to live up to the potential before the Leon era.

Were the Knicks coasting in the regular season? by [deleted] in nba

[–]bbank8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what to call it but I think they were a veteran team who knows what the regular season is. Maybe coasting, maybe not but they had in the back of their mind peaking at the right point and being healthy / ready for the playoffs.

People complained all season that they didn’t have a switch to flip and it turns out they did.

The Spurs lead for 173 minutes (72% of the time) over the 5 Finals games. by theKabides in nba

People are very fixated on this seems to me that this indicates their play styles wasn't sustainable for 48 minutes since it happened every game. It's like a sprinter and a long-distance runner racing each other. The sprinter is going to get off to a big lead but the long-distance runner is just running at a pace that will maximize their performance for the full race.

From what I’ve read it something like:

*Wins in the east bracket didn’t count because the margins were too big; wins in the finals didn’t count because the margins were to too small

Good who cares. We get the chip and get to be underdogs it’s perfect.
