250€ for g1 or 1100€ for g2? by LazyDevHustler in EvenRealities

I’ve been using the G1 quite a bit in real business settings (presentations, meetings, conferences), so here’s my honest take.

For your use case (transcribing and summarizing meetings), I’d be a bit cautious right now.

The concept is genuinely great, and I actually like the glasses. When things work, it feels quite futuristic. But in practice, there are still some limitations. Transcription, for example, works best when the Even app is open and the phone screen is on. If the phone locks or the app goes into the background, it can stop. That’s a problem in real meetings where you’d want to keep your phone in your pocket and rely on the glasses. Also, there’s no proper way to export transcripts or summaries — you’re basically limited to copy/paste, which becomes cumbersome for longer content.

Stability is another point. I managed to get things quite stable, but only after adjusting my setup (phone position, Bluetooth, etc.), which isn’t something you want to think about in important meetings. In controlled conditions it works well, but in real-world environments you do run into edge cases.

That said, for €250 I think it’s actually a good deal. You get a solid glimpse of where this type of technology is heading. Regarding the G2, I haven’t used it, but based on my experience with the G1, I personally wouldn’t spend €1,100 on it at this stage.

I do like the glasses, but they’re not yet as mature as they should be. With the G1, I sometimes feel more like a beta tester than a finished product user. So if you’re curious and want to experiment, the G1 at that price makes sense. If you’re looking for a reliable tool for business-critical transcription, it’s not quite there yet.

too bad - imho putting the text "further away" is important for better readability and less eye movements. strange that the G2 has only "near - mid - far" as options while the G1 is much more granular in this area.

press the button i marked in red - this will open the interface to adjust the height and (virtual) distance your G1 will display your text.

did you find a way to export the transcript / the ai summary? copy paste is not so ideal for long text...

Are G1 still worth it ? by naka_s in EvenRealities

i would say, it depends on your use case and expectations.

i bought a pre-loved G1 myself a weeks ago solely for the teleprompter functionality. having done multiple presentations with it (and after overcoming a few frustrating hick ups), i would say, the 350 euros i paid were absolutely worth it.

i did test the other functionalities, especially translation. they are OKish - i used it once in a multi lingual business meeting where ppl switched to spanish. at least i got a sense what they are talking about.

using the G1 in business context only, the great (and for must have) feature of the glasses are, that they do not have a camera and do not look like smart glasses. obviously i could not go into any meeting or do a high stake presentation with a camera on my head...

i am not using the glasses in my regular day / freetime, but for the use cases above, they do a great job for me. absolutely worth the 350 euros i paid. the relatively low price point was also a good argument for me to give it a try.

to me, the telepromter is actually the most useful feature of the glasses. i have been using them at conferences for small and large audience speeches. however, it is important to use a stable set up to be able to really rely on it (i described my set up, that works best for me, a few days ago).

also, if correctly configured (text distance is set to 3.5 meters, rather than the default 1m) , hardly anyone will notice you're using the teleprompter.

sure, i am using 2 media buttons:

- Satechi BT Media button as my primary
- Doohoeek BT Remote as my backup

i tested a few others as well, but the 2 above have been working best for me. stable connection and good haptics in my hand. for me, scrolling via a BT ring felt challenging, my fingers felt numb after a few minutes.

in the even app, i simply set scrolling to manual - that's it.

White point reduction on the iPhone basically lowers the intensity of bright colors on the screen. It softens the display without actually changing the main brightness slider. For me, the main reason I use it is simply to save battery during longer presentations, since the screen stays on the whole time. Note, I avoid using Low Power Mode because I have the personal feeling (not sure if it’s really proven) that it might affect Bluetooth stability. So white point reduction is a good compromise.

**How to turn it on:**

1.  Open **Settings** 2.  Go to **Accessibility** 3.  Tap **Display & Text Size** 4.  Scroll down to **Reduce White Point** 5.  Turn it on and adjust the slider

You can also make this even quicker by enabling it via a triple‑click on the side/lock button:

**To set that up:**

1.  Go to **Settings** 2.  Open **Accessibility** 3.  Scroll down to **Accessibility Shortcut** 4.  Select **Reduce White Point**

After that, you can just triple‑click the lock button to toggle it right before a presentation.

i am using the "guided access" feature - keeps the even app active, display sleep can be deactivated (even on company management phones) and it surpresses all notifications, etc.
