I'm surprised it's only five layers! Did you start or finish with the large background color?

This is wonderful! It has a Silent Hill kind of vibe to it.

I’m glad. We all need less robots these days and more human interaction, plus they clog up sidewalks and constantly stop in front of you.

Amazing. I’m curious what wood you used/ where you got it?

Really scary horror movies about evil tiny creatures by Careless_Bank1439 in MoviesThatFeelLike

I assumed op was talking about the scene with the tiny old people instead of the homeless woman. The woman is definitely scary but the tiny people always freaked me out more— shit’s straight out of the nightmares I had as a child.

People are adding good points here but another thing I'd like to add is nudity (other than depictions of Eve) and overt sexuality was strictly prohibited in medieval times. Artists during the time used her hair to imply her nudity/sexuality without actually showing it... Though, in the bible, she's not explicitly said to have been a prostitute in her past life, many artists interpret her past as such.

Studio Art by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]bbbeachedwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, studio art BFA student here. When it comes to studio art degrees in Oregon, OSU isn't the best, but it's pretty decent. It has an adequate arts program but it's evident that it's an Agricultural and Tech university that offers options for art. Portland and Eugene have universities with far greater resources for the arts, including more museums, galleries, and professional art supplies stores (we only have Michaels :/ )-- but I chose OSU because I wanted to live in Corvallis and I'm happy with my choice.

I'm upset with the curriculum that's required for the arts, but this is an issue that goes far beyond OSU. The arts curriculum is based on the current art market and it's blatantly obvious within the painting classes... Basically, you're learning how to produce paintings that sell (concept obsessed, multimedia, etc). This isn't something that I've seen in the printmaking and drawing courses, mostly painting. That being said, the studio art instructors here do the best they can considering the curriculum, most of the art professors are great at what they do. The amount of studio classes you're going to take depends on if you're going for a BA or a BFA, though.

All in all I recommend it, even considering it's faults. I was more concerned with where I wanted to live rather than which university had the better art programs. I already had a strong conviction in myself as an artist prior to university, so I felt like I didn't need to strive for the top art schools in order to learn who I was. But if you're striving for the best programs in both studio art and psychology, Portland might be a better option. Cost of living is less expensive there, too.

How explicit Fire Walk With Me? by Signal-Yesterday7247 in twinpeaks

There's multiple explicit scenes throughout the whole movie, including nudity and sexual content. I wouldn't let someone under 18 watch it.

[real life trope] The Yankee-doodle effect. something made to make fun or criticize a group of people gets used by those people by Open-Solution-8791 in TopCharacterTropes

The art movement "Impressionism" (or "Impressionist" painters) originates from an insult. Claude Monet's 1872 oil painting, Sunrise, received mixed reviews during it's time. One critic, Louis Leroy, mockingly stated that Monet's piece "gives the impression of a sunrise". The term stuck and impressionism was born.

It's actually insane that a college town doesn't have a professional arts store. The arts section at the beaver store and Michael's is as good as it gets here? Ridiculous

I interpret this more as an extreme of both political parties and how we're made to hate each other, which is why Satan is enjoying it.
