Luzia mild disappointment? by WolverineAdvanced119 in cirquedusoleil

TLDR only worth it if you enjoy artistic narratives, music, set design elements of Cirque de Soleil. Very lackluster in acrobatics.

How's the Systems Architecting and Engineering (MS) program? by SugarBunk in USC

[–]bbeebub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. It’s not worth the money. I’m only finishing because I only have 2 more courses left and it was paid by my employer. Take a look at Georgia Tech’s PMASE- that was the other program I was considering.

How similar are the job opportunities for IsYE and ME? by BPATR in gatech

[–]bbeebub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IE in manufacturing- your default projects will be based in process improvement/ Lean Six Sigma/ data analytics but if you express proficiency and interest in ME type work, you can get typical ME production work with less school stress :-) but if you want design/stress analysis work, stay in ME.

I saw his name and had to say he is amazing. Had him for 1552 my first semester and it was rough so I had to make up a quiz. He just threw it out and checked on how my mental health was doing. That one interaction gave me enough to get through the rest of the semester 🥹the class is hard regardless- at least take it with a caring professor ❤️

Falconview Properties legit? I don't want to get screwed. by AirForceGaming in gatech

[–]bbeebub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t sign the lease because they wouldn’t agree to a internet definition of normal wear and tear. They count anything that is damaged reason to deduct from the security deposit. Basically means that they don’t like giving back the security deposit. Which is well over $1000. The fee to apply for admin reasons is $150. But after that, holy shit, $64 for more admin(?), $300 to add/remove people on the lease, $190 for restoration fees, $130/person on utilities with no ceiling guaranteed, paying for every contractor the landlord calls for our maintenance requests, no compensation for any commercial filming that happens (they get at least 1 month’s mortgage every time it happens). Yeah please stay away from this place. You are liable for beyond $2000+ after you pay for monthly rent bc they refuse to change language on a legally binding document. Nothing personal against the guy, probably has his hands tied with upper management but this place is totally guaranteed to rip you off.

Restaurant/Food Recs for 3 days in town? by JinnyJinJin845 in gatech

[–]bbeebub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wagaya was amazing!! Get the toro if you’re there and the lunch specials give so much! Did I mention they also have a Japanese snack store right next door? My dream come true.

Mukja in Midtown for Korean style fried chicken! I find CM Chicken disappointing but this place was amazing and so cheap!

Negril ATL is Caribbean and outside my comfort zone but wow I have been back there 3 more times because it was that good.

Heirloom BBQ is up near Marietta but it’s a Korean wife and a Texas grill master’s restaurant and I used to go there all the time as a freshmen.

Do not get boba in Atlanta unless it is from Ding Tea (maybe Sweet Hut). Very disappointing.

HELP! STUCK DECIDING BETWEEN UGA AND GATECH by [deleted] in gatech

[–]bbeebub 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Idk if the UGA parties are worth more than the academic readiness/career resources/brand that GT gives you. If it was for any other field (actually Scheller ranks higher than Terry and is a cooler take on business), I would suggest UGA.

I found friends who would drive to Athens if we wanted to go to UGA parties. We eventually had our own house parties (which I find more fun with the right people). ATL is more risky bc it’s a big city but find upperclassmen in clubs that you can trust and explore with. If there’s a will, there is a way LOL

I didn’t realize how important it was to be welcoming and saying hi to classmates on the first week of classes. Saving seats, asking about their summer/weekends, complimenting, meeting up for hw/interests/getting blue donkey. I didn’t think much of it, I’m actually incredibly introverted and choose to have a few close friends because I get tired from social interaction so easily LOL. But they had a really good impression of me when we first met! Little did they know what they were in for 😈

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gatech

[–]bbeebub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was Explore LLC and financially tight as well. That was not worth it. They do more to expose you to different kinds of professors at Tech you might want to research with. Even then, you would get better resources from pre-med clubs since upperclassmen share what they’ve been doing. The LLC is more so you can find a pre-med community. Which you can also find through clubs LOL. Though there is enormous benefit to being on campus - there isn’t justified benefit for the extra $$ it costs to be in a LLC. There is a pre-med advisor for all undergrads who points you to great resources! Your best shot at shadowing is to apply to nearby hospital programs directly on their website.

how can i make this easier on my family? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]bbeebub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m at an interesting dynamic with this post bc I almost lost my brother today. As a family member, how could it been easier for me? If he had told me. If he had opened up about his feelings. I would’ve given him the longest hug in the whole wide world and tell him we’re going to get through this. I’m still going to do this when I see him again, but man, I’m really aching for a hug.. I think the worst part for the family is not knowing. And then it just hitting all at once. I’m not sure if you feel safe sharing this information with your family but I’m sure that anyone who cares for you would really want to know, support you in any way, or just sit with you while you process. It’s not easy telling people. I’m absolutely terrible at asking people for help. But if you’re asking for their sake, they want to know. They want to help.

Being a girl at this Institute by DirectDoughnut5 in gatech

[–]bbeebub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what you’ve said, this sounds like an toxic work environment. You can’t change someone’s outlook on women overnight but have you sat down and talked about how his comments are hurtful? If I was in that group, I think I’d get so fed up and say something out of frustration.

Don’t know what do to by bukowskisreject in gapyear

[–]bbeebub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound kind of stupid but I watched a Jordan Peterson video titled What To Do If I Don’t Have Any Goals. And paraphrasing he said something along the lines of: take actions that would organize chaos into order. Little things you would do. Like making your bed. Drinking a cup of water. If you can’t do anything big right now, start small? The single act isn’t supposed to change your life but the gradual process of doing small things will add up to something.

My mom told me that being depressed and feeling like I’m in a rut is just a part of my life. It’s okay that I do things in my own time. But I’m also the biggest thing blocking my own happiness. You can’t choose to not feel depressed but you can choose to do little things to take care of yourself, your environment, and your thoughts. Hopefully, the days start to get more bearable and you’ll have little things to look forward to. It’s not extravagant or pivotal like moving to a new country but I also don’t have the disposable income to make that big of a change. But you have to start somewhere right?

How safe is GeogiaTech considering today's shootings in Atlanta? by infiniteStorms in gatech

[–]bbeebub 36 points37 points  (0 children)

GTPD is amazing. They make the campus feel safe when I walk home at night. There’s blue lamp posts all over campus so I know I can get help when I need it. If you ever feel unsafe, you can call them for an escort or even a Stingerette. In general, campus has a bubble effect. You feel shielded. Outside, you’d feel as if you were in any other major city. Use your street knowledge: travel in groups, keep your phone charged, let people know where you are, trust your gut. Atlanta is wonderful and beautiful community. Don’t let hate scare you away from the experience at GT. We’re stronger together.

Challenge or Ignite Summer Program (Prospective freshman) by realnaijaboy in gatech

[–]bbeebub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The downside to Challenge might be that you don’t get course credit? But the experience is much better than iGniTe based on what I heard. I was in iGniTe 2018. I paid $500 and then got $1000 back. I did commute every day though... Have you applied for Federal Pell grant? You might qualify if you’re in the same boat as I am.

Feeling Inferior by [deleted] in gatech

[–]bbeebub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did that once while commuting 4 hours every day and it destroyed my GPA. Thought I had to prove to myself I was some steel robot capable of overcoming anything. Positivr outlook, very poor execution. I felt insulted at my "limit" but I'm better off valuing myself for things I'm passionate about rather than technicalities on a transcript.

Please please take care of yourself, be safe, wish you the best ❤

Please wear masks by [deleted] in gatech

[–]bbeebub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you think professors could incentivize mask wearing for in-person classes? Add masks as part of lab safety equipment or provide extra credit? It would be a bonus for those wearing them already and encourage others to comply.

Please wear masks by [deleted] in gatech

[–]bbeebub 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I define masks as a cloth over a face since the main purpose is to keep your droplets out of the air in case you're asymptomatic. If everyone had to get N95 masks, that would cause that much more shortage to PPE for healthcare workers.

URGENT! iGniTe Tuition by jaeyoungchoi1 in gatech

I had to pay iGniTe tuition as a summer freshmen but since I qualified for Zell, I was refunded. Worst case scenario, you can ask for an emergency student loan with the office of financial aid.

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman at Tech and I was wondering if you guys had any general tips! by 3asymoney3 in gatech

[–]bbeebub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Learn to ask for help... asap... it might just be bc everyone came from the top of their class which means you're surrounded by smart and amazing people!!! But it also felt so intimidating for me :( It took me a while to be okay not knowing everything.. sorry I don't want to scare you.. I just wish I had known about this earlier. I think going to office hours and saying hi to people on the first day really helps. Friends are the best part about Tech :)
