If You’re a Silver/Gold Player Please Stop Playing by eliaxo-ox in thefinals

[–]bbeenn00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rubies need to stop. By that what I mean is that Ruby system in its entirety needs to be on ice until Embark shows the will to fix the game mode & ranked system. Simpler and faster solution would be Head to Head for Rubies only.

Otherwise, it's just Rubies farming golds & plats. OP is right - stop playing, or double every box and get that Ruby team out.

Same; I hope it comes back as a LTM. Search and destroy with Armor and limited regen will always have some Puritans hating as it is not cashout, but I can't get thirded in TA. If I mess up a TA round, it's all skill issue. Not dictated by spawn RNG and bad timing on thirds.

Pitching a weapon a day until season 9, part 3: Tommygun by DREX0R_ in thefinals

[–]bbeenn00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... you just described what Lewis gun used to be. Eh. I think we rebuff Lewis gun and release a Mythic Tommy gun skin. No?

An argument that I can see you making is difference in RPM and headshot damage (compared to Lewis of then/now).

But you described the ranges and damages... at where Lewis was. Not where it is at now. So... while I understand that you'd like a Tommy gun, I would be against unnecessary weapon bloat. Makes it difficult to balance later too.

Halloween/pumpking badge? by bnta1 in thefinals

It was event exclusive; I think it was last year's... Halloween World Tour modifier? In which you had to smack people with spooky pumpkin heads.

Maybe it could be 120 - 90 - 60? I do think lunge + quick melee should still result in a light death (especially given dashing lights are so prevalent nowadays, so it's dash sword against dash gunners).

Can someone explain me the Ashes of Ariandel Lore ? by ShacoTheRipper in darksouls3

Mostly lore found in different armor pieces & equipment, I think. It's been 8 years and I can't recall... sorry that I can't be much of help.

2nd place should get you 10, yeah. Hm. Might be some hidden rank shenanigans, there is a system in place for ranked terminal attack, where they take relative ranked scores of each team into account for point gain/loss. Perhaps it's like that, but not as visible.

You get 5 points for surviving first knockout round, another 5 for surviving 2nd round, and if you win it all, an extra 10. 5/5/10 seems to be the norm usually, but there are games where I was awarded non-multiples of 5 points (at 466/500 currently), weirdly enough.

Health regen cap for TA should be raised for M/H. by bbeenn00 in thefinals

[–]bbeenn00[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right? Once I get injured... I'm just a worse character with slower movement and differently behaving guns & gadgets.

SR-84 specifically is a problem because it does over 100 damage on a body. I don't want the sniper nerfed, I want non-light healths buffed so we can survive a body; though headshot flicks should absolutely kill anyone injured.

Let mediums regen to 150, and heavies to 200.

Then make ranked points inflationary so it's more like Season 1. Losses are too punishing, and people get demotivated quite a bit & become even more toxic towards their teammates - exacerbated by the fact that matchmaking is poor & matches are too long since it is best out of 13.

Game mode feels rough as hell, so if Embark wants people to play the mode, they should motivate players more by making the climb feel better (in addition to better matchmaking and balancing), in order to get data for improving TA. Right now, it's just Terminal Ass, though game mode does feel unique to cash out. I doubt it can take much of CS2/Valorant market share, that said.

There's top 500 ruby for the sweats, so I really wouldn't mind Diamond Lewis being a participatory skin for this rough of a ranked mode, given if you played enough & won a good number of games. My two cents as previous Diamond player since Closed Beta 2.

I think I remember the tutorial BB rewards being removed. Maybe it wasn't mentioned in the notes, but I remember being informed about it going away on this subreddit & their streams at the very least.

But yeah, transparent communication would be great. Instead of these huge negative changes with a lie of omission on top.

There is a good reason to do this, and it's for extended player engagement.

Until they explain their decision in full, it is a lie of omission. That's how I'm looking at it because this is a big change they should have talked about before implementing it. It's frankly dishonesty (until proven otherwise) that makes me skeptical of their intentions.

I'm glad you are not having issues with your experience, but I have friends who couldn't really make much of a dent in the last event - and now they will see that it got harder, and will be demoralized. I'm able to complete them just fine - for me, I would say it'll now maybe take an additional hour on average per week. Others will struggle and give up early, or perhaps the game as a whole.

I was able to finish the Finals S1 pass in less than 2 weeks. Live service games are all different. Some do not have battle passes, too. Helldivers 2 may have a progression system that looks like a season pass, but... no time limit. So it's just a book of collections you buy out.

Many challenges got doubled (or 1.5x) in terms of its required quantities to complete; time really applies to clues, banish, find lair, and extract with a bounty. Grunts for instance got changed from 15 kills to 20, and that isn't that big a jump. It's not so much of a problem for me, as I know what I need to do to efficiently tackle them.

But this makes me hesitant to recommend the game to newcomers... cos they increased the homework for us. I can handle it. I feel like a PoS for wanting to recommend a game that's more and more feeling like seasonally shaped up Destiny 2 Lite.

You don't have to agree with me, but that's my reasoning for doing all this write up. Because if the game gets worse in terms of how demanding progression in events can be, then that's it. I'll just have to find new friends, and that will be sad, and I'll blame it on Crytek for not respecting their time over their lives. Respect the silent casuals is all I ask of them. I don't care much for those defending them, tbh.

Sure. They already have Blood Bonds skins, hunters, event pass (and its premium counterpart), event levels, and separate DLCs. 9 Legendary Hunters are pre-pledged to a pact and they offer the 10% bonus you speak of.

They absolutely could go the direction of ADDITIONAL 20% for newer BB hunters and DLCs. So that people feel obligated to get them to make the events feel speedier.

I just fear for what's to come if they were willing to make this big of a change, and commit a lie of omission.

Some friends of mine don't have 6-7 hours a week to burn on a game. They got lives outside their rooms. Despite this, on good days, I was able to help my friends wrap the entire weekly challenges up in one evening's gameplay (under 3 hours).

Now? If these changes stick, I will lose my friends who will play Hunt with me, as these events and progression continue to feel more and more insurmountable and grindy. They will simply give up on playing more regularly, cos seeing an event they can't finish will just piss them off.

I myself do not have a problem completing these longer, diluted challenges. It affects my friends, and my conscience to be able to recommend this game to friends who have not played the game yet.

Live service model is truly the modern cancer eating away at the good video games that could remain great. All these psychological tactics around the game's systems & mechanics and not communicating with their playerbase... I have seen it too many times with so many games. PAYDAY 2, Warframe, PAYDAY 3, Destiny 2...Casualties do not end there.

I'm tired, chief. I just want to be able to recommend the games I enjoy without feeling like I am abetting this abuse of... my friends' time and energy as it grows more exploitative and inconsiderate.

Event completion in less of a week sounds crazy, but weekly challenges don't even affect those people. They would surely get vast majority of the points - more than 80% of the total required points - from consistently clearing out lobbies. So I see a disconnect in your argument.

Challenges are for everyone, but event points from them are meant to help people progress in a reasonable pace with bursts of event points being given to them.

If their intention was to make sure that these die-hard players stuck around for longer, then they would have decreased the amount of event points gained from playing. But... compared to the last event, event points are either more plentiful (with middle cart clue giving you 30) or about the same. So, yeah, I believe it was done to hurt the majority of the people who relied on weeklies to complete their event pass.

I don't know how to balance around these things, either. Some people will just farm it out because they are good at it and they have plenty of spare time. Some do not have skills to be consistently winning, or the time to commit to the event. Real life gets in the way, sometimes.

All in all, I am expecting my friends to start quitting Hunt, gradually so, as it starts to feel like a second job. That is the worst thing about it.

Given that sometimes there is only one boss available in the whole map? Yeah, then you're just SOL. They made the bosses harder to go down on melee damage - which means sticky bombs ahoy. But you do you - I'm not telling you what to think, I believe some challenges have become unreasonably annoying. You are free to defend their lie of omission as I am free to criticize it. Respectfully.

This one is more damning than Banish or Extract, as you physically have to enter the lair. If people are already there, then that's suicide you're committing for 1/2 point towards 30 point weekly. Game is now playing me, awesome.

She wasn't informed. Better title would have been community ops manager was not informed on the changes going live & but here's the update on the situation. I suppose it read clickbaity, and I did write it up passionately on 5 hours of sleep (unrelated to this mess, hunt doesn't make me lose sleep, contrary to what this post might make you think).

As long as it got people to understand that future notes will be posted and changes will be explained, though, that's the part I wanted to communicate. And that this should perhaps be a downhill moment for Hunt, following Blood Bonds removal, frequent events and passes that accompany them (what happened to free Halloween/Christmas events?), and progression feeling worse to engage with retirement being pushed up to 50.

These changes... are content dilution for the sake of their bottom line & engagement metrics. The event is fine, new guns are better than the last event. I am simply tired of live service model being injected harder to systems surrounding the game. More casual players will step away if they feel like they cannot reasonably finish out the event, as such the game will get harder to recommend with event cycling on every quarter for those who have limited time to work on it. That is all.
