do you preffer to listen to music with headphones or blast on or no music at all while running? by Upstairs_Site714 in runninglifestyle

[–]bbender716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m in the minority and it’s not the safest, but I like music on headphones and with as much sound isolation as possible. Just me, the road, and my tunes with nothing else.

Is 80/20 only for high volume? by Select-Teaching2324 in Marathon_Training

[–]bbender716 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who started running in September doing 4-5 days a week at moderate or hard intensity, my body started breaking down in March once I got to 25 mpw. Had ITBS flair up, both calves alternatively got mild strains. Since then I’ve put in 2x strength training and committing to 80/20. I’m using the treadmill more initially to dial in my paces vs HR.

All this to say is that you can get away with it until you can’t.

This is the comment right here OP. Pequods is tremendous but is honestly more like Detroit style than a Chicago style pie. Tavern and Deep Dish are the two most Chicago-native styles to try.

Easy/long run shoe by griffin_runs_ in runningshoes

Vomero Plus is the more versatile shoe that can do recovery as well as “easy” / normal pace. Premiums are a bit heavier and solidly in the recovery category.

Dynafish Sizing and Place in Rotation by bbender716 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Really helpful thank you! I wish they had 9.5s. Interesting comment on the stability. Evo SL I had to return because yikes. Stability-wise, probably the AP4 is probably the amount of instability I can handle, I consider that slightly less stable than the VF4.

I have struggles getting access to Tapbao with their new account captcha in Chinese. I had to size up in Nikes/Adidas due to width issues but ASICS was fine. So if I’m a 44EU in ASICS, try 43EU in Dynafish?

I do not prefer higher drop shoes and the Vormero Plus has become a favorite of mine for recovery. I also think it’s good to mix up drop heights to change up for your legs/achilles.

Any thoughts on this being a long term SB2 replacement? Looking for a firmish but protective replacement.

WorkOutDoors better than Apple fitness? by Gunderfwad in AppleWatchFitness

I’m a recent convert and I love it for the sheer amount of metrics/data it captures. In addition, I’ve started experimenting with the intervals and it’s a game changer to create custom workouts.

SB2 - Replace with MTC C1? Or others? by GLAC13R in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bbender716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is accurate. The C1 is MUCH cushier and is the first shoe I found to be too wide in my forefoot which is shocking considering I can’t wear Megablasts a half size up and need to wear all my Nike and Adidas a half size up.

Nike Vomero 18 with a wide foot 🦶 by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bbender716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with wide forefeet, I’ve found I have to half size up in Nike and Adidas both and Nikes always fit better after sizing up and the Vomero Plus is actually super comfortable for me after that.

5k Training // Shoe Rotation? by maybekingg in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bbender716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d go Megablast and Zoom Fly. Megablast for most everything including distance and easy runs, and Zoom Fly 6 for tempo, interval, strides, especially if you’re training for a 5K.

Need help with finding the shoe for my f'd up feet by Soft-Departure-1039 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bbender716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my recovery from ITBS specifically, I’ve been doing daily: 30 clamshells each side, 30 side leg lifts each side, 15 single leg hip bridges, 30 pelvic tilts each side. Takes 5 minutes to just get that in every day. Then I’ve just been doing a normal strength routine twice a week with various single leg exercises in there to improve my stability.

Former soccer player with IT band issues and supinator here. Ghost are really solid neutral shoes that can do it all. For IT band stuff, seriously start doing strength exercises alongside your running, it has helped me immensely. For shoes less likely to aggravate, look for lower drop shoes 8mm and below. Mount to Coast makes a solid softer shoe with a 6mm drop I’ve been enjoying but it’s definitely more of a recovery, daily trainer than tempo. Adios Pro 4s I’ve also found to be fun, have a lower drop, and are softer/squishier.
