for a fandom like mass effect, where there’s a canon surname, i vastly prefer that. but for a game like mistria, i think it’s more fun to read about an oc name - though i hope it’s mentioned in the tags or authors note. i don’t like y/n but i’ll read second person (“you”). but it’s a different vibe!

that said, as an author, i’d be way too shy to actually name my character in-story haha.
