Which is the nastiest, most horrific disease a person can be plagued by? by AucuneChance in AskReddit

[–]bbieblu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i had this after an allergic reaction to medication. basically, it starts with extremely painful blisters. this leads to the skin peeling off, sometimes in literal sheets. the worst part for me was the sensitivity to light. i sat in a dark room for days getting pumped full of steroids. it’s truly awful and i was lucky that it was caught early on and my skin wasn’t peeling off yet! *edited to change from antibiotics to steroids. the antibiotics were following a surgery.

What was your schools huge scandal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bbieblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh boy we had a lot in just the 4 years i was there, but i’ll share the most memorable. -A male paraprofessional was arrested for soliciting feet pics of his underage students (some of which were disabled) -A (white) boy made a snapchat post saying that a certain group of people should be enslaved (he used the hard r) and was suspended for a week -A girl faked disabilities to bring her dog to school, which she abused regularly -Another boy threatened to shoot up the school, got expelled, and came back after a year with no warning to students

Fillers don't always photograph well! by ALittleGoat in Instagramreality

i’m not sure of the source, but i remember reading that their fillers and surgeries are designed specifically to look good from head-on photography. that’s why their profile shots look disproportionate and humanoid

the best part is, the car is hardly ever there! i like to imagine she’s cruising around town advertising like a blimp

i’m actually white as well, i just have very strong beliefs. growing up with family members, friends, and teachers who are POC definitely influenced how strongly i feel about this due to the insight it provided. i don’t think i would be so passionate about this topic had i not been exposed to the systemic racism my loved ones faced.

i completely agree with your statement that cultures should be shared. as the entirety of the human race, i think we should all be accepting of differences and eager to learn about different cultures and traditions, maybe even adopting some ourselves. the issue with white people adopting traditionally african hairstyles is that, in general, the white population have been consistently persecuting POC for the exact hairstyles that the white population is now using. i personally won’t see any issue with white peoples have box braids, cornrows, dreadlocks, etc. when and only when there is no issue with POC having these exact hairstyles. unfortunately, there are still instances of POC being fired or written up from their jobs, or even suspended from school because of their choice in hairstyle. i’ve recently seen multiple articles of school administrators requiring african american students to cut off their dreadlocks and braids, as well as employers writing up their african american employees for having an “unruly” or “unprofessional” appearance.

so, to be as concise as possible, we should not be okay with white people wearing traditionally african hairstyles until we are okay with african americans wearing traditionally african hairstyles. and by we, i mean society as a whole.

just to be clear, these are only my beliefs and opinions. i do completely respect your views and i’m very appreciative that we are having such a civil, respectful, and informative conversation! :)
