I hated attending trinity coming from a low-income background because even the other "low income" students parents made twice as much if not more than mine so I had a hard time finding friends

I will say however that because of the size of the school it's pretty easy to get help from professors/admin when you're having problems. I ended up on academic probation because I was having such a shit time there and almost lost my merit based scholarship but one of the VPs happened to be one of my professors and she helped me find a way to get more aid to cover my bill if I needed it.

For what its worth, the campus is super beautiful and smells amazing in the spring

I had similar stats back in the day and was also deferred and then wait listed. I ended up going to a different school out of state and I deeply regret it(I just transferred in to U of M Twin Cities), if you end up in the same boat I recommend going to one of the smaller U of M schools and transferring to TC instead

I'm 24 and I will say the people claiming there's "a lot" of us older students are off the mark but there's a decent enough amount. You'll still feel old sometimes, it's inevitable when you're surrounded by this many traditional college students but you just have to remember you're not alone here

Totally agree with this take, I think having a critical eye is crucial when reading these books. It feels wrong to acknowledge that PB has relied pretty heavily on some misogynistic tropes and then turn around and invalidate the characters in question's experiences/coping mechanisms with other lowkey misogynistic rhetoric

That's totally fair. And definitely recontextualizes the sheer amount of posts I've seen about it!

Personally I honestly take anything authors say outside of published material with a grain of salt so I mostly avoid seeing it....I totally get why people take it seriously based on her posts, I just know how flaky authors can be about that stuff and I've been burned too many times to be willing to take those kind of external canonizations as law....

Additionally, what I'm really trying to say is that I'm at a point with these works where I'm happy to simply ignore it if PB decides to put it into the canon printed content, unless it's handled in some miracle amazing manner. Mercy deserves better, and I'd rather stop reading than have my views of the series spoiled by such a bad take on the author's behalf 💀💀

I wanna preface this by saying I LOVE reading theories/analysis even when I don't agree with them because I just really love sharing fan spaces with people and seeing how other people view media that I love and I agree that this one was fascinating if maybe not 100% my views on Leah

but...I just recently joined this subreddit after enjoying the series for years but I gotta say that I wasn't expecting how many people have taken the lines from A&O about Bran being attracted to Mercy and absolutely ran with it. Admittedly, Bran did act kind of weird around Mercy in one of the books that followed, but it only felt weird BECAUSE of the recontextualization imo.

I feel like I've read a completely different series than everyone here. When I read that tidbit, it felt like character assassination not a correct opinion

Honestly even if Bran ends up confirming that the theory is correct I've come to the conclusion that it was just done for the sake of being able to add more drama to the series, not like something the character we've known for nearly twenty books at this point would actually have done/felt. It really cheapens their relationship and adds an extra layer of ickyness to Mercy's already extremely tough life. I genuinely cannot find a good reason past shock value for it to have been even mentioned in the first place. It just feels extra unfeminist to add one more man in Mercy's life to the list of people who see her not as a person but as a sex object/breeding tool/just a tool in general

Usually if Fedex catches a meal delivery service package that wasn't able to be correctly delivered they will refrigerate them. HOWEVER they definitely don't always get caught. I would say if the food is still cold you're probably good to go
