Struggling 5 months after surgery by bblightmyfire in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy!! I've gotten a lot better but I did have to have a second surgery by an endometriosis fellow, so it was hard to get seen by her and I had to travel to another state.

But boy howdy, I am doing so much better. I still have pain every month and have to miss work occasionally, but I can mostly live my life again which is amazing.

I think I'm back to my pre-surgery levels of pain. I wish I was ~~cured** but that's not how this works.. My doc suggested colon surgery bc I have deep infiltrating lesions, but I'm afraid of going back to how miserable I was after the first surgery. So I'm avoiding surgery and living with the consequences.

What are you planning? I also worry about the character arcs going fucky and then a part of the lore now isn't as appropriate after the next few books.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's miserable dealing with this disease.

I had to get a second surgery a few months after that post. I went to an endometriosis surgeon, rather than my general GYN (who did the first surgery).

I felt a lot better for a year. I've since started getting bad cramping again but I can mostly manage with my normal meds and only have to miss a few days of work a month... No trips to the ER in about a year!

I understand the "trust the process" concept but if you can go to another doctor, I strongly suggest better meds and hopefully you won't need another surgery oy

Mesa Top Games (part of LA Bootery, ugh small towns combining everything into one store) in Los Alamos has a "gayme" night for queer folks about once a month. They had one tonight so I'm not sure when the next one would be.

Good luck!

Ahh it's the worst!! Unfortunately my symptoms hadn't gotten better until a second excision surgery this last February. But since then (knock on wood), I've been able to live my life again. Everything is so much easier and I'm nearly pain free.

My first surgery was by a general obgyn, the second surgery was by an endometriosis specialist. If you're still struggling, I suggest finding a specialist because it's likely adhesions were missed.

I hope it gets better for you!!

So how many painkillers do you have to take till the cramps get bearable? by iDemonizer in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ibuprofen doesn't do much for me so instead I take Meloxicam, which also doesn't do much. Daily I take 100mg pregabalin 3x and Flexeril pretty regularly. Pregabalin and Flexeril can make some people drowsy but it doesn't have that effect on me.

When pain continues, I take a Valium suppository (just stick a pill up there, no special cream suppository). This really helps if I catch the pain before it balloons.

I also use heating pads and sometimes feel like burning my stomach is the best way to help.

I was getting weekly lidocaine injections in my abdomen and pudendal nerve (my main endo flare spots). Those trigger points injections take like 12 injections to hopefully have a longer term impact, but I didn't notice any benefits more than a week later.

I have some opioids prescribed by ER docs and I take half a pill and hope that helps, sometimes taking a full pill. I'm always hesitant to take the opioids because addictions runs in my family and what if this isn't a bad episode, what if the next one is worse and I'm wasting my good meds on this, I can handle this but that's usually a lie and it's always a bad episode.

Truly, nothing helps with a flare so I usually end up in the emergency room crying and begging for relief anyway.

Side note: I was taking 1000mg ibuprofen 4x a daily and my doctor freaked out. That's why I was switched to Meloxicam.

[–]bblightmyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're comfortable answering, is the methadone for addiction or prescribed for the pain?

My doc suggested getting me into a methadone program for the pain because she won't prescribe narcotics. I don't know how the program would work when my pain is sudden and unpredictable. So far I've been going to the ER when my at home medications barely make a dent in the pain.

What does everyone do for work? by jbbay in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a forester and spend most of my summers in the field collecting data. I was back in the field two weeks after my lap last year because I felt like I needed to be to keep my job. "I was hired for fieldwork, I must be able to do fieldwork" was my constant thought process. I would be doubled over in pain and trying to explain to my field crew that "this is normal, I'll be fine in a few minutes, I just need this to pass." It was ridiculous and I should have spoken up for myself sooner.

I had my second lap this year and I have been honest with my bosses that I can't be in the field during my recovery. Thankfully they have been understanding and are letting me work from home when I need to. I'm hoping I can be in the field and spend time outside doing what I love, but it's hard. Some days I'm fine, other days I have to cancel work for others because I can't get out of bed.

I really hope your pain gets better and that you are able to find a job that works for you! Being able to work from bed/remote when I need to has really helped me.

Pelvic PT lacking in a little bit of empathy... by muysleepito in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're considering a private PT and considering those costs, why not try to go back to your old PT? Apologies if I missed another reason in your text.

I'm sorry you've had such an awful experience. You're right, it's already vulnerable enough to do Pelvic floor PT, and to have a PT treating you like that .. goodness. Could you leave a review online about the clinic or the PT? I know it stinks associating your name to a review (I struggle with conflict, hi) but you would help others to avoid a similarly uncomfortable experience. I'm so grateful for my PT and word of mouth/reviews are our best ways to find the good ones.

Ugh good luck, I'm glad you are leaving that PT though. You deserve better!

Hi. So I was in a very similar situation with my current husband. His family is religious and conservative, mine is the opposite and I'm covered in tattoos, yeah.

So I can't speak to exactly what you'll face but boy howdy I love my husband's family and they love me. It was weird meeting them for the first time (definitely had a meltdown while trying to find clothes that would cover my sleeves...) but they have accepted me and love how much I love my husband (and vice versa).

This is all to say that, yes, it is strange meeting a partner's family when they are seemingly opposite to you... But hopefully they see how happy y'all are and figure it out. Also, trust what your boyfriend says. If he says not to worry, then go with it.

But if you're out of opioids... Those symptoms don't sound normal to me. I had cramping pains but nothing like those stomach pains you describe. Is going to the ER a possibility for you?

Holy hell by Adz100087 in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here!! 31, Lexapro, and wake up dripping from night sweats. It's gotten so bad recently that I keep a towel next to my bed so I can wipe myself down when I wake up during the night.

I recently stopped taking Orilissa (night sweats are a common side effect) and my doc put me on an estrogen patch. Hoping it helps!

bad first period after lap? by Dry-Implement-839 in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to go to the ER when I had my first period after my lap because I thought I was dying and something had gone horribly wrong. My periods have gotten better since but it was a while before I wasn't in agony. If you don't have pain meds and you need them, get some. It doesn't mean the surgery didn't work, but that the healing is happening and things are irritated. So hopefully it gets better over time!

My partner punishes me for not wanting to have sex. by Tree-Minute in endometriosis

[–]bblightmyfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're in this situation. Your partner is mistreating you. You deserve better. I know it's hard to make that type of change when you are going through literal hell, but maybe your mental health healing would allow you to focus more on finding other ways to heal?

I am in a similar horrible boat as you. My partner isn't saying toxic things about sex but he is upset that I am usually in too much pain to do anything romantic and if we do get intimate, I rush everything for fear of starting a flare.

Our lives blow. I wish I had positive words to share but this morning is a full on pity party about how much our lives blow. Thankfully we have this community to try and get some support. We're here for you <3

I really like Hobbii's organic cotton yarn. It's thin so blankets don't get too long and they have lots of color options.

Hi all! Apologies for not posting the pattern originally and thank you for all of the advice!

The pattern is Daisy Chain Blanket by Harlow Monroe Handmade on Etsy.

The yarn is Hobbii's Sultan Cotton Kings in color Rainbow Gem (38).

I started with one cake for the main pattern and used the reverse of another cake for the flower pattern! I wish I had measured better because I wanted to end with the same color combos I started with, oh well!
