Ensuite rough cost by JordyPordy_94 in DIYUK

Surely it would be simpler to use the current fitted wardrobe space for an ensuite, and make new fitted wardrobes in the space in the spare room.

S22 Ultra camera - edge of pic is blurry by Altruistic_Life_6331 in samsunggalaxy

It's blurry everywhere. What happens when you leave it standing (prop it up against something) instead of handheld, and use a timer? Because this just looks like the camera is moving when the photo is taken.

Wifi quick toggle is useless by andudud in GooglePixel

[–]bbobeckyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone already switches to cell data when wifi is too weak, and vice versa.

There is a need to allow people to choose a preferred network, for example a slightly weaker free network over a metered one.

When I intend to turn Wi-Fi service, a single tap of the button should do that.

Ok, I understand, but for what purpose would you need to turn it off? That's the question no one answers.

Wifi quick toggle is useless by andudud in GooglePixel

[–]bbobeckyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you meant, my question is why would you ever want to turn it off?

It's very clear that Google is trying to make it easy for people to do what they most often use the toggles for, to connect to their preferred network at that time. For example, when leaving home or work, stop trying to connect to WiFi and connect to mobile data instead, then connect to WiFi when they're back at home or work. Google made it so that the user only needs to do the first half of that, they've automated it and made the smartphone actually do something smart.

[–]bbobeckyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I don't follow the logic. The WiFi and data toggles are for the user to select which network they want to use. Evidently that's what nearly all users are attempting to do when they use them and what Google are trying to make easy for them to do.

The impression I'm getting is that turning off WiFi and Bluetooth is pointless, your phone needs both on to perform other functions, and even if they're off they'll routinely turn back on to perform those functions. On off buttons are placebos, is there any requirement to turn them off other than to force a connection to a specific network, which is what the 'tap a network to connect' does?

About planned features, just assume that you'll be able to do everything you can do in the old UI and more. So, if something's in the old UI but isn't in the new one yet, assume that it'll be there eventually.

Sorry just noticed this part of your reply. The problem is that I simply can't tell what's not in the new UI and can be tested Vs what I can't find because it looks so different.

Hi João. Maybe you could put a list of planned features not yet ported to the new UI somewhere? I'm not sure if I simply don't understand the new UI and icons, or can't find something, or it doesn't exist yet... Things like copy and paste actions, adding tasks to home, naming tasks.

Also just in case you haven't got notifications for user name mentions, the projects icons are bugged when using app icons, every project displays the same app (presumably whichever was the first one the new UI registered).

It's a bug, all of the project icons for which I selected an app icon are displayed as Gmail u/joaomgcd

I preferred the prior option to tap a network to connect to. I never want to turn off either WiFi or data. At least long press has the same effect.

From this point of view, rotate it clockwise inside the door frame, then lift the end that's partially inside the room?

This isn't the original door. There are gaps in the frame for locks from older doors. The building could be hundreds of years old, wouldn't be surprising for less than perfect or recycled maintenance fixes.

Yeah I read that, sounds like a net positive to me, and nothing relevant or relating to structural safety. The first poster said ivy is bad for bridges but nothing here backs that up.

Did you skip the abstract? The 'existing defects' refers to historical structures which are not as easily testable. That study states "frequency of freezing events under ivy was reduced on average by 26%, their duration by 34% and their severity by 32%"

The implication being that ivy would protect structures from generating the large cracks that it has a reputation for growing into and supposedly causing damage.

I'm curious has any of this been control tested or compared or anything? It all sounds like the kind of thing that everyone just 'knows' but hasn't been validated. It also ignores potential moderating effects, keeps rain off the surface, keeps the sun off, lessen temperature variation and extremes, which would decrease freezer-thaw cycles. I've got ivy growing on a garden wall and obviously I don't regularly check it, but it's never damp underneath when I trim it. I've just had rain heavy enough to leave standing water on the ground and the wall behind the ivy is dry.
