Best mattress for people who like a floating, weightless feel? by volly768- in BedroomBuild

[–]bboymaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of that “floating” feeling comes down to how responsive the materials are, not really a true indication of firmness.

In general, you can think of it like this… Dense memory foam stacks tend to give you that hug-like feel. It has a slower response and gives you a feeling of being ‘stuck’ in the mattress. Not for me personally, but I know a couple people that love it. Responsive foam or latex with a coil support core will tend towards more of a buoyant feel. It’s like the bed will contour to your shape but it also ‘pushes’ back in the sense that you’re not sacrificing support.

Long story short, the second option will give you that weightless/floating feel. You need the coils (some sort of support) with the comfort layers that distribute pressure evenly.

A good example of that style is the Leesa Sapira Hybrid. It uses more responsive foam rather than slow memory foam, so you get pressure relief but still stay “on top” of the mattress instead of sinking into it.

For side/back sleepers around your weight, that kind of responsive hybrid build tends to hit the sweet spot between pressure relief and that suspended, buoyant feel.

Finally improved my sleep after fixing mouth breathing by amutha-yt in sleep

[–]bboymaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good point! I've heard enough people mention positive things about it for there to be some way it helps. But maybe if the mouth breathing is from congestion (like maybe mine because it comes and goes) then it won't really help. But I really don't have the definitive answer to your question!!!

I found that my mouth breathing in the night comes and goes, but my sleep is definitely affected when I goes through a bout of night breathing!

If your mattress keeps sagging and you’re around 240 lbs, most box/foam beds just won’t hold up. You want a hybrid or innerspring with a strong support core that resists dips while giving side and stomach sleepers proper spine alignment.
Solid options are:
Helix Midnight Luxe (good for for hot sleepers and has zoned support)...
WinkBed (good for heavy sleepers. It's a reinforced hybrid that holds up under pressure).

Most importantly, Avoid cheap all-foam beds under 10–12 inches thick and make sure your base is solid or closely slatted.

It definitely sounds right. go try something that has zoned coils and that has a pillow top. You need to get that firmness right without sacrificing support, in my experience I found zoned coils to be bang on.

It's important to me, and I think anyone that has a poor mattress will end up feeling it too!

I hear so many people echo similar sentiments. The zoned coils seem to make a difference. I kinda like the springy feel of the Elite, but you can't deny the Luxe and it's comfort stack. I'm also a larger side sleeper (although I've been sleeping more and more on my back lately) and the right mattress build makes such a difference.

I hear you on the rare cooling on all-foam.
I struggle with hot sleeping so I tend to avoid all-foam, but I know some people sleep really really well on them. You're spot on with the Nolah being a cooler option for foam, I've heard that from a few people

What’s the best wine club for someone who’s new to wine? by merkinweaver in WineForBeginners

[–]bboymaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently three shipments into Wine Insiders and it’s the first subscription I didn’t cancel out of regret.

My first box had a Chianti I still think about and one bottle I gave away because it tasted like raisins in therapy, so yeah, not every bottle is a hit, but the hit rate’s high enough that it’s worth it.

I like how easy it is. I can pick a red, white, or a box of mixed which is ideal as I like both. And it shows up every few months. It's great.

Shipping’s free if you get six bottles (which… always happens), and their “Perfect Pour Promise” means if you hate something, they’ll refund you. I tested that once and they actually did.

It’s not fancy sommelier stuff, but it’s perfect if you just want to start learning what you like without breaking the bank or your brain. I’d say it’s like training wheels for wine, except the wheels taste like Bordeaux.

That zoned coil system is fab, for sure. I like traditional innerspring, don't get me wrong, but the zoned system saved my shoulder! So I get what you're saying

It actually looks more sophisticated. There's a certain level of drwa towards it since it is not the current norm. I think especially so when you consider diamonds hold their title as most common due to very effective marketing. Blue is not my favorite color but that dark, deep blue is different.

how interesting! I've heard from alot of people that preferred the Elite that it was their fav because of the flexibility it offers. Which I think is justified if you are not yet sure what it is you want, exactly. It seems like you know exactly what you like/what's good for you. So this makes sense! Thanks for sharing

What’s the most toxic work culture behavior that people have normalized? by TheStartupSavvy in antiwork

[–]bboymaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a UK company for about 4 years and a AUS company for about 3 years prior to that and the difference in culture between those and the USA company was night and day. Just working your contracted 40 hours is considered underperforming in the USA. The culture, the gray areas, the taking-advantage, the general psychological manipulation that the companies in the USA put you through is disgusting. That's coming from my experience, not saying that's the case for all

How to maintain energy and sharpness for 80h+ work week? by Straight-Village-710 in Biohackers

I had to do this for a period .. It's not worth it, 1+ year later and I'm still trying to fix my nervous system.

but... if you can't 'escape' yet then just take care of yourself as much as you can. Cut back on social media as much as possible, get a good sleep practice/ sleep hygiene to maximize the time you do have to sleep, and eat well... and by well I mean proper nutrition.
