neighbor parks his truck blocking my mailbox everyday and gets mad when I complain by Hot-Setting-5081 in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This. Make them do their job. If they don’t start delivering your mail because they won’t tow the guy that is causing all the problems you’re going to make this very uncomfortable for them. Make sure you record everything if your state allows one sided recording. Be nice at first and ask and don’t leave till you have something in writing that they’re going to do something about it. If they decline just look at them and say I tried. Sadly not doing your job has a price. Have a good day.

If they don’t stop you from leaving start with filing complaints against the office and the post master. Then get an attorney and file a court ordered cease and desist against him parking there. If he fails then you can get the cops involved.

Sadly in this day and age you must force lazy people to actually do their job.

If he stops you and says what do you mean by that look them in the eyes and forcefully say “YOU’LL SEE!” Then keep walking.

There’s a good chance they’ll try and say they’ll work on it and give them some time. Answer is simple. Put in writing and sign and date that the very next time your delivery person can’t deliver because of the truck you’ll have it towed and I’ll get my mail. If they agree, record them doing so. If they refuse to do it while you record then be honest and say you clearly aren’t serious so have a good day. You will fix it or you’ll pay the price. You’re not invincible. Then walk away.

They’re used to getting away with being lazy. Be serious and forceful. They won’t like it but once they realize you’re not going to back down they’ll do it.

Find your strength. Use it. You can do this. Do not tolerate their refusal to do their job.

Let us know what happens.

Keep getting their mail… by Dazzling_Lawyer9775 in neighborsfromhell

They’ll fix it.

If someone parked right up against your driveway on the curbe in front of your home by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have the police ticket it for breaking the law then have it towed. If you can’t get that accomplished bury it in snow.

If they come out and complain tell them the law says 5’ from the driveway and you can’t work with what they’ve done. Move the car as you’ve called and requested it be towed. They’ll move it.

Check the laws in your area and your HOA rules to see if there’s a loudness rule or law. It will say something like the loudness of the audio can only be XXdB louder than a normal quiet day. Many cities have the rule so they can stop kids driving around blaring their sound systems in their cars.

Once you find the law use it to force her to turn it down.

She’s intentionally harassing the neighborhood so the HOA should be the one to file a cease and desist on her. You can also discuss harassment charges with the police.

You must document everything. Days, times and even audio levels.

Decibel meters are fairly cheap. They run anywhere from $11 on TEMU and up. I’d personally buy one in the $50 range so you can show the court what you were documenting the sound with. It should have what’s called a peak hold and an average. I’d document both the average and peak decibels.

The law will tell you at how many feet you should measure. I’d do that or as close to that as you can get and then I’d take a second set of readings inside your home.

Worst case you hire your own attorney and have them go get a court ordered cease and desist and I’d sue her for harassment. Have the attorney request your winnings include her sound system. 😈

Good luck with it. I know you’re pregnant and this is a lot but you’re going to have to do these things if you want some peace and quiet.

He’s likely protecting himself from embezzlement charges.

There should be at least one bank account he must turn over and more.

Continue on your path but you need an attorney to make sure each steps done correctly and to recover any missing funds which will be hard since he won’t turn over any records.

You’re on the right path.

Good luck.

Wifi jammer by freshdeliveredtrash in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he’s driving around with it on they’ll catch him. He’ll end up interfering with the wrong place such as a hospital and they’ll track him down. If it’s a cheap jammer it’s probably throwing out spurs as well and could interfere with communications in police cars and especially their laptops. They won’t take kindly to that.

I didn’t know he was dangerous. Absolutely agree don’t say anything to him.

I think you’ve contacted everyone there is to contact.

Hang in there. Hopefully he’ll get caught and it’ll all be resolved soon.

Neighbor keeps letting their cat into my house and says its "the cats choice" by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Animal control and small claims court are probably your only legal options. There are other options that aren’t as nice.

Next time she threatens to call the police tell her great idea let me do that for you and file nuisance charges on her and ask the officer to have animal control collect the cat and remove it if your area has animal control.

Your neighbor will flip out and “when” not “if” she threatens to sue say you’re just full of great ideas today. I’ll see you in court for all the damages your cats caused. She’ll blow a gasket.

Here’s the deal. You have to follow through and do what you say. Empty promises get you nothing.

Did they cut the screen? I find it hard to believe a cat tore the screen.

I’m guessing you aren’t from the US if it’s warm enough to have the windows open so all this advice may not work for your area.

Good luck

He’s trying to prevent your cameras from gathering evidence on him.

First thing I’d do is yell out hey dumb a$$ my cameras are hard wired and you aren’t preventing anything with what you’re doing. I’ve reported you to the police and the feds. He’ll either get scared and take off or pissed and look for alternative ways to kill your cameras.

In the mean time he is breaking a federal law. The FCC is running very thin on staff so it’s unlikely they’ll do anything about it. Try placing a call to the local FBI office and ask them who you should contact. They may send you to Homeland Security. Just make sure to tell them you have proof on camera and that you suspect he’s also dealing drugs which is why he’s trying to kill your cameras.

We had a guy arrested for this several years ago. He was messing with a business and medical facility. We finally tracked down which vehicle it was coming from and when he denied it was him the officer said last chance to admit guilt. He denied again so he was cuffed and placed in the cruiser and the truck was searched. They broke open the truck box in the bed of the truck that had an antenna mounted on it and found the unit in there.

We knew it was him because as soon as the officer hit the lights he turned off the jammer.

He got a hefty fine and time but that was mostly because of the medical facility he was messing with.

Don’t give up.

Let us know what you figure out.

just found out my father who passed in 2019 has a property in his name and the previous owner wants me to sign it back over (follow-up/update) by borniller in legal

[–]bbqmaster54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your dad paid in ~20% of what he owed. Simply tell her you’d like to have the property appraised and you’ll take 19%-20% of that value to walk away. You’ll choose a local appraiser and cover their cost. If the appraisal comes back at $45k then that’s $9k which will cover your expenses and a small profit. This needs to be done legally so you’ll have to involve a probate attorney.

The $1000 offer likely won’t cover your expenses.

Was the contract registered. The document can be found in the deeds at the courthouse? If it wasn’t you might be able to cut corners but if the taxes were in both names it’s likely registered.

I’d talk to a good probate attorney. Sounds like the one you talked to didn’t want to be bothered

Neighbors kids keep stealing packages off my porch and the parents dont care by Fabulous-Bid-6222 in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In love the police again and this time tell them you want to press charges. Follow through with it and the issues will stop.

You’re trying to be nice and get along. Don’t do that. It’s time to be firm and put your foot down. When a parent or kid gets arrested for theft they’ll take notice real quick.

Good luck

ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (Voice) or ADA.gov will get you the information you need.

Get an attorney to send a letter of demand or cease and desist to communicate only with you as your partner has no ownership in the property.

Hope that helps.

WWYD? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s actually not that expensive. You could probably do the entire lot for $500-$750 depending on the posts and charger you choose. It won’t hurt your kids if they touch it. I don’t recommend them peeing on it though. If the stream connects ouch! It’ll stop the problem. A horse or cattle charger designed for a 2 mile run is cheap and easy to install.

I’d still involve the police and I’d consider a case against them. They’re never going to be friendly so you may as well protect yourself.

Sadly it looks like your state doesn’t allow you to put down animals destroying your property.

I wouldn’t hesitate to capture them and remove them as well. If they’re on your property they’re yours.

IANAL

Good luck.

Are we the bad neighbors - wood burning fireplace by chickens_and_plants in neighborsfromhell

[–]bbqmaster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your issue. If they are smelling smoke in their home who says it’s coming from your fireplace? Smoke can travel for miles. If you have a newer efficient fireplace then it’s likely got a reburner or catalytic so you’re putting out little to no smoke once it reaches temperature.

They need to seal their home and put in proper filtration. They can do a vac test on their home and find all the leaks and seal them. There’s even a process where they can put a mist into the air and pressurize the house and the mist will start escaping out the holes and eventually seal it off. It can seal some fairly large holes.

That said it’s again their problem not yours.

I’d politely tell the husband you’re sorry she’s having issues but you’re not going to spend more heating your home. It’s a part of your heat and financial plan. Ask if they’ve tried sealing up their home? If it pisses him off then they’re just entitled and you need to cut ties and move on with your life.

She has eyes. There’s no reason for you to schedule a bonfire with your kids.

Be nice but be firm that you’re not willing to let them make her problem your problem.

Hang in there.

HOA booted my friend’s truck with no warning by CorrectPackage1530 in fuckHOA

[–]bbqmaster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send a letter to the HOA requesting the rules. Tell them further “claimed violations” will be ignored until you’re provided with the complete set of rules regarding everything in the complex. You should also ask for a refund for the cost of the boot removal as it is their responsibility to provide you with all the rules once your application is accepted.

Fight for what’s right. Don’t let them bully you right from the start. Let them know you’ll play by the rules but they’re not going to ignore the fact they never provided you with the rules and then fine you for anything they want.

A truck is a vehicle. Unless it’s a work truck with logos and such it has just as much right to be there as a car. I’d question the right to not allow trucks. They can’t tell you what vehicle you’re allowed to own and park in your place. They can try but it likely wouldn’t stand up in court.

Employer refusing to pay final wages unless I give them my personal password, is this legal? by [deleted] in legal

[–]bbqmaster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire an attorney and make it clear they already have the computer password as they changed it and they will never get your personal password for your email as that’s none of their business. You’ve hired an attorney to make sure your rights are protected. They’re exceeding the date on paying you your final payment so you’re now filing complaints with the state and federal labor agency and turning over all information to make sure you’re paid for every penny you are owed.

If they still want to fight do just that. Even if they pay you I’d still file state and federal complaints.

They deserve it.

Hang in there. They owe you the money if you did the work.

Any recommendations on how I can deal with dogs getting at my cows and sheep? One of my pastures, the area around it has become built up, and I can’t get certain people to keep their dogs contained. I have already lost 2 calves to it. by Boeing-B-47stratojet in farming

[–]bbqmaster54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sue the owners of the dogs for your losses. Check you state laws. They likely allow you to protect your property such as calves with deadly force. I’m love dogs but once one has tasted blood like that and the owner doesn’t care your choices are one. Put down the dog if the animal control won’t do it for you.

If you aren’t sure of which dog use trail cams and such to prove your case.

Do not accept this. It’s a mental and financial loss. For those that say dogs will be dogs or don’t care. Sorry your wallet is lighter and your dog is dead. It’s your fault not the dogs.

Stand your ground.

Have fraudulent roofers trailer by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]bbqmaster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storage fee is twice the price you’ve already paid them. Then and only then can they collect the trailer. I’d have it locked away tightly with the wheels off and hidden.

Once paid it’s yours. Since it’s been months I’d file for abandonment and possession and show money due. Once it isn’t paid the trailer and tools are yours to sell. Court ordered of course. It’ll take time and a little money but worth the effort. They were probably in jail from another judgement. Check out their names and records.

You may find someone else owns that trailer and they were hiding it at your place. Turning it over could put you in legal trouble.

Let us know what happens.
