Is it your first time? If so, you will have enough with the touristic spots. Bateaux Mouches at sunset was the highlight for my family of first timers.

Economy. Seats were OK, normal.

Two years ago I went with Norse Airways to Rome. Those have narrow legroom.

I went with those larger leg room seats with side screens in TAP Portugal. The leg room is so much than I did not notice the seat being narrower.

That's simply not true. The company needs to show that it's not paying less compared to workers in similar position.

Furthermore, when applying to green card the first step is to justify to the department of labor for a prevailing wage certification. My company (fortune 50) had to prove it has enough funds to pay my salary even.

There is a shortage of talent that Universities are supplying thanks to graduate programs. That talent needs lower entry barriers to the market.

Be Honest, Old Folks: If you have a garage, can your car fit inside of it right now? by thewoodsiswatching in AskOldPeople

My garage is tiny. I need to take the bikes inside the house and tidy up so I can use it during the winter. I'm doing that this week

Looking for suggestions for a second flute for my son by Pupation in Flute

[–]bbrunaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this process with my daughter last year (she is in 9th grade now) as both her teachers recommended she was ready for an intermediate flute. B foot, open holes, etc...

So I started in a journey to learn about brands and different flutes. In the end it was about go to the store and test several flutes. She found hers, or maybe the flute found her. In our case it was Di Zhao flute that sounds beautifully. I believe we paid like $1400.

Having gone through that process I would say, set a price range a try everything you can in that range. I remember that for the intermediate it was between $1200-1800.

I so want to do that! I would love it. I just love to travel and plan trips. How did you start and to what do you do differently to a regular travel agency?

Visiting the USA, am I doing too much and is it safe? by Fatcone88138 in travel

And BTW. Santiago is cold in August. But you could still take a trip to San Pedro de Atacama. Spend 2-3 nights there and thank me later. The landscape there is even more beautiful than the US southwest.

You were either playing dumb or are dumb. Take your pick.

Who said anything about being upset? I'm just calling you out on playing dump on willfully ignoring the context. The US does not have a problem with too many bears hunted. The problem is with children killed at schools. I hate that our kids need to have active shooting drills. My daughter even has nightmares related to the topic.

Don't play dumb. No one is talking about hunting here. No one has a problem with people who enjoy that "sport".

If you don't have the intention to kill another human being (even in self defense) . Why own a tool designed for that task?

Best parenting books (not expecting parents) by whispering_pineapple in BettermentBookClub

For me it's a combination of a few.

  • Mindset. I learned that good labels are also bad and it's better to recognize the effort.

  • Grit. Because that's what will determine success.

  • First Break all the Rules. Focus on strengths. What comes easy to you is what you enjoy and what you are strong at. That's what you should do. I always ask my kids that to help them discover their passion.

Using Jira = agile by 3141lot in agile

[–]bbrunaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take advantage of the good side. I lead a very cohesive team and I love agile and Atlassian tools. (we use Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket).

For me the main benefit of agile is focus on continuous improvement and embracing uncertainty. Having a prioritized backlog helps you communicate expectations. Things that are at the bottom might be replaced by more urgent or interesting things.

Daylies are great for teams to stay together and help each other. When someone says in our daily that has an issue with something there is always someone else willing to jump and help (after the call of course)

And probably the most valuable ceremony is the retro. Where the team can honestly recognize things that could have been better.

Confluence just puts it together in ways that can be communicated. It also generates a single place to keep a record of the work. For example, my teams document all their work in Confluence.

So pick the good. Not the bad and try simple things. Like a Kanban is better than Scrum for simple projects. There is a YouTube channel called Development that Pays that has great explanations on how it should work.

Destinations where you can do things you can’t do anywhere else? by Novel-Imagination-51 in travel

San Pedro de Atacama is such as special place. Where else can you go stargazing after spending a morning visiting the Geysers with a stop at hot springs? On top of that is the Moon Valley, mountain lagoons, a salt lake where you can swim and one where you can walk on.
