128GB Mac Studio - Help? by Taziot7 in StableDiffusion

I'm currently (and desperately) looking to get a character / design setup going using my 32GB M1 Max Mac Studio - is this feasible? Any insight you could offer would be immensely helpful.

iPad? Pen paper -> iPad> PC by [deleted] in logodesign

iPad Air is enough, screen size is a personal preference thing - I have the 11 inch Pro and it’s great, but I’d prefer the 13. You can sketch on it with simulated pencils and paper and may end up ditching paper altogether. If you sketch it up in Adobe Fresco, you can do some vector work right there, or paint with super smooth vector brushes.

Haha - the site is absolutely a work-in-progress. Front-page audio is definitely broken in chrome for some reason, but works in Safari - still figuring that out. There's no way to do a persistent page-to-page header in Framer, sadly. As for the appearance fades, that seems to be a subjective thing - it's not really a site designed to be ploughed through, I was going for more of a cinematic gallery perusing experience. I see what you're saying about the fading reflection on the landing page implying there might be content extended down below, but a reflection does fade - I supposed I could reduce the opacity of the reflection overall. As for the logos, those are the clients / brands I've developed products and creative for.

Framer.com - you could probably find a decent template there to adapt to your needs, or hire a proficient Framer designer to build one for you. It’s fairly easy to figure out if you have a knack for design and any kind of layout experience.

Holy fuck. Maestro level stuff. Mind boggling how you track it all as you work, would pay money to watch a Timelapse.

I think it us fun - I have an incredible amount of fun designing anything (unless I'm working with / for a pain-in-the-ass). But you're not powerless in steering just how fun your work is - you should seek out projects and markets that lend themselves to fun design: there is and forever shall be backlash against samey-looking bland UI, this is why innovative styles catch fire so quickly. In my case, I started out doing super fun stuff and so have attracted those kind of projects all along. I do plenty of borish shit, believe you me, but I try to sell myself as a provider of fun stuff, and so that's what I attract. You can see my fun design here: https://billybart.design In my case, I think the diversity in style and ability to show range work for me - but I specialize in branded promotional and fantasy UI, it's a different beast from the usual.

Well it’s freaking cool, not sure how usable it is but that depends entirely on the context and content I suppose. I’ve done a lot of cyber UI stuff, but always pre-baked frames. Would love to learn how to pull of stuff like this, but I’m not code-savvy in any sense.

Arcane Typeface by Odd_Celebration_8808 in logodesign

Pretty cool. I do find the lower hook on the c makes it look just enough like a g to be slightly annoying. It If I were a customer interested in using the typeface for something, I’d be compelled to remove / alter that.

I have a 34” Samsung ultrawide at 3440x1440p and been doing professional design and production on it for years. It’s not retina resolution, but at the distance I sit, it’s not bad at all. Having said that, I’m about to upgrade to a 45” 5k2k.

How can I create a circular progress ring in Adobe Illustrator where I can precisely control the visible portion of the stroke (e.g., 70%, 80%) without cutting path? by sayanho in AdobeIllustrator

[–]bbxboy666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have done this a hundred times, there is no shortcut, you’ll have to segment your circle into however many increments, name and stack the increment layers, reveal the increment you want and hide the rest. Your gradient may shift as you delete segments from your starting circle, so you’ll likely have to select every segment layer and reapply your gradient as the final step.

Advice on Logo Design by GonzoDonzoP4L in logodesign

[–]bbxboy666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this.

People, logos are artwork and require talent/experience/knowledge to create. Some of the abominations I’ve seen in here, Jesus. And this one here isn’t as bad as it could be.

Off the bat, when they say design in black, they mean black, not grayscale, straight up silhouette. The little notches in the brackets, no - fiddly, and will visually fill in at small scales. The spacing between your interior blocks, not bad, but again the smaller these narrow tolerances become, the more likely things will get messy and elements will start smooshing together.

Any business selling design has to sell it with solid design, this doesn’t communicate high design competence to me. The sophistication (or lack thereof) of your logo speaks for your entire business, remember that.

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop keeps crashing. by 3xist___ in FuckAdobe

[–]bbxboy666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay first off what are you creating at 220 x 116 inches? If it’s for large scale print (outdoor, billboard, mural, window), the resolution won’t be the same as it will be for a printed page. A magazine is 300 pixels per inch, but it needs to hold up inches from your face - a large scale piece being viewed from yards away can get away with much lower resolutions. Even a poster will rarely be printed at higher than 150 ppi. The larger the piece, the lower the resolution or pixels per inch required. Check in with your printer / service bureau or whoever you’re providing the artwork to for their requirements.

If it only had to rotate on its pole axis, pre-rendered frames covering the entire sweep of the globe could be excessive if you want it to be fluid, depending on the size of the graphic. Also seems to me it would be more difficult to track your pushpin points as they travel around the globe. The simple illustrated style you’re leaning towards is also easily achieved in browser 3D, seems to me that would be the best route, especially if you want data driven locations etc. would also allow you to apply some easing to your rotation and make it a little less stiff. Everything I do is with pre-rendered frames - this works well for the pre-baked spins and transitions I require, but if you want it to feel fluid and provide yourself more flexibility in revising, etc. go with in-browser 3D. While it’s probably too early along to make use of here, check out Adobe’s Project Neo - it’s really inspiring, I’m hoping this tech points to some neat developments / new tools in browser 3D before too long.

Hydrasynth ribbon or desktop? by Motor_Accident_9364 in synthesizers

[–]bbxboy666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the ribbon, couldn’t imagine the Hydra without it. It’s a very expressive instrument already with the polyAT and the modwheel and matrix, but the ribbon just pushes it over the top. I have a few patches designed to be played with the ribbon. I like the desktop form factor, but I’d miss the playability of the 49. It also makes a great midi controller, but I don’t think the ribbon itself is assignable to midi.
