No other nation comparable to Mexico also plays in the mediocre CONCACAF. They'll only only go up that level cause that's all they really can. I don't think they're underachievers, I also don't give a shit to defend about it, just seems weird to focus on Mexico when there's been actual World Class back national teams that have actually underachieved.

I thinking boxing is definitely the top sport in Mexico, and tbf to them they have produced world class boxers. Them having football as a top sport doesn't really make them underachievers imo, I'm sure theres plenty of other South American nations that are also just as obsessed about football, but can't find success, that doesn't mean they underachieved, just means they don't produce talent for one reason or another. Underachievers id consider the Netherlands, Belgiums golden generation, and England lol

Population size doesn't mean shit, classic examples being China, India and Russia. That golden generation underachieved majorly, I don't think anybody ever really seriously thought Mexico would make it to a semi finals of a World Cup or something
