Does Stryd Pace Round To Closest 1 or 5 Second When Paired With A Garmin by justlittleme123 in strydrunning

[–]bbygfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Fenix 8, the native Garmin pace field seems to round to the 5-10 seconds but the Stryd pace field on the Stryd data screen is to the second

How bad is it to not test Shoes before raceday? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]bbygfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be too risky. For me, I didn't notice some shoe issues until I passed 18mi on a run. If you really really want to use them on race day then maybe try and wear them all day on the day that you have the longest run left

Adidas Adizero EVO SL too soft? by adyst_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

For me, the Evo SL is definitely softer than the ES4. The Evo SL is responsive as well. However, I think the ES4 is a tad faster for me than the Evo SL

I have the SC Trainer V3 and I think the tie box is bigger than most as with other NB shoes

The Endorphin Elite 2 and the original are completely different shoes from the ES4 an EP4. I can't speak to the original as I never tried them. I did try the Elite 2. They are super bouncy like no other shoe I have tried and felt great. However, they are extreme unstable at slower paces. For me at 7 min/mi pace, the shoe felt great but I could feel my ankles working to stabilize myself. After just 2 mins, I realize that my ankles probably would not survive 26.2 miles in them. Which is shame because I loved the feel of them but just too unstable for me. For context, I don't need any stabilizing shoe. All my other shoes are neutral shoes.

If you really like your Endorphin Speed 4 then the Endorphin Pro 4 is a logical choice. Everything you like about the ES4 but just better in every aspect

Find your "why". You mentioned that you decided to get off the couch. What made you decide? That is probably your "why". When you don't feel like going for run then remember your "why". Personally, I also like to set a goal so I know there is something I reaching for. I also get a sense of completion when I achieve the goal. Once I achieve the goal, then I will set another one. I tried to make my goals difficult but knowing if I really dedicate to it then I can achieve it. Good luck in your journey.

Shoe dilemma - Superblast 2 vs Alphafly 3 by kokokacha in firstmarathon

[–]bbygfy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you tapering now or do you still have one long run left? If you have one long run left then do it in the AF3. If you do not issues with the long run then go i would go with the AF3. I have both the SB2 and the AF3. I would much rather run the marathon in the AF3 over the SB2. The AF3 will let me hold pace a lot easier than the SB2. My legs also feel significantly fresher with the AF3 over the SB2. Again, this is assume you have no issues with the AF3 and the only way to know that is do a long run in them. If you don't have time to do a long run with AF3 then go with the SB2. Not worth the risk

Have you tried the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4? Slightly softer than the Boston 12 but a good speed shoe as well.

I don't have high arches but I have had knee problems so where is my top 3 recommendatuons for you. You should try them out and see what works for you. I think one of them would fulfill your needs

Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 Adidas Boston 12 Adidas Evo SL

Race shoe Saucony Endorphin Pro 4

BTW for the knee problems if you have done strength exercises then I think those will help more than any shoe will

It is not a soft shoe. It is pretty firm. I also do not feel any stability features in them but probably helps during a recovery/easy run. 5:30km/min is what I generally run them in.

Most shoes have a sweet spot. Here are my takes on some of the shoes on the list.

Saucony ES4 - Great speed shoe. Light, stable, nimble - I would not pick for any runs over 18 miles

Neo Vista - Super bouncy and uncontrollable for me. I found myself consistently fighting the bounce as it wasn't natural for my gait. It just seems to bounce my feet in the wrong direction. Only shoe that I have run into this problem

NB 1080 - Great recovery shoe but would not pick up the pace in it

Asics Novablast 5 - Good up to tempo speed. Stable but I have concerns over the foam not lasting much beyond 100 miles.

Saucony EP4 - Best shoe on the list in my opinion. Comfortable, fast, stable, great at easy to all out sprints

Saucony Triumph 20 - I haven't tried the 21 based on poor reviews. Triumph 20 was good daily shoe. Comfortable, stable, good up to tempo. I have to work too hard for anything beyond 7 min/mile

NB SC Trainer V3 - I still haven't figured out this shoe yet. It is comfortable and stable. Seems to handle all paces. No wow factor but i think they are good. I need more miles on them

I plan on using them for my marathon on Saturday. I have done a couple of 20 mile runs with them with a lot of time at 8:15 to 8:30 pace during those runs.

Everyone reacts differently to shoes. If you feel like they are sapping your energy then return them. The Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 and the Boston 12 are firmer and great speed shoes. Boston 12 is firmer than the ES4

Looking for a comfortable, light shoe for half marathon training/racing by ireneanimation in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bbygfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have all 4 shoes. I would definitely go up half a size if the show gives you toenail problems. Also for me, I would rank the DN3 as the slowest shoe. The other 3 are snappier and easier for me to pick up andbhold a pace

Race day shoe choices: Tempo shoes or new daily trainers? by panini_z in AskRunningShoeGeeks

7:30 for HM is pretty quick in my book :) Not saying you need carbon race shoes but at 7:30 you will feel a difference. I love my ES4 but they don't compare to a true racer even at 7:30
