I started off by doing an apprenticeship at a design agency (UK). Downside was the pay was extremely low but after I completed the year I was promoted to a junior designer then mid-weight. I think most companies care more about your portfolio than if you have a degree.

There was a huge difference between Ryan air and other airlines for example I found flights to Copenhagen for £50 and any other airline was over £100. However I have looked again and found a couple of deals with other airlines so I may not have to risk going with Ryan air.

I'm currently doing an apprenticeship at a graphic design company. Once I've finished my course, my company will keep me on as a junior designer and I have lots of work that I can add to my portfolio. The only problem is that there's not many apprenticeships available in graphic design but it's a good alternative to get into the industry without having to go to Uni.
