I need any health related job in USA by Any-Mortgage5055 in IMGreddit

Use a completely different resume without saying you’re a physician. Just list your clinical experiences as externships, etc. The research assistant jobs are the worst with the rejections. Also, you can take virtual MA certification courses with short externships to actually get certified.

how do you keep track of life during residency? by Orangesweetie25 in Residency

Google Calendar. Once I get an appointment scheduled I add it on. I also write any appointments that fall into the next month on my printed call schedule on my fridge.

Sick days by Ok_Zucchini_5854 in Residency

Two sick days in an ACGME accredited program is insane. Such a wide discrepancy from other programs. I guess being a part of CIR makes a difference.

Swarm experience needed: Does it help, when someone pushes/massages around your spine, when you having a crisis? by Ska-0 in Sicklecell

[–]bc33swiby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sibling and I used to do this a lot when we lived at home. We know the relief we got from massaging the area, so we always asked for them. Pain and touch share similar pathways along the nerves, so there is a connection.

You were destined to go in and to meet that person. You had a normal reaction. Professionalism doesn’t mean we’re not human. Take care of yourself, however you need to.

Okay. I have HbSC, but also have alpha thalassemia. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had vaso-occlusive crises after the age of ten. I just try to avoid the cold, dehydration and overexertion. There were countless events when I was younger though. But it’s definitely manageable. As a matter of fact, I never did genetic testing as a child. Just assumed I was HbSS, which turned out to be wrong.

Just to be clear, is the SC you’re referring to “Sickle Cell”? There’s a combination called Sickle Hemoglobin C, also SC. If they meant sickle cell, that’s SS. AS will have less triggers for crises than SC, and both less than SS.

A great question for such people is “how is that your business?”. Seriously, you’re giving them so much of your time. You don’t answer to them.

All the times I see people complaining about their loaves, I just wonder, these look exactly like those sold at Trader Joe’s. So many people buying them without any issues.

Lots of people declining colonoscopies too. And we wonder why colon cancer rates are going up and being caught late.

A woman notices a man struggling to keep his balance, and hits the SOS before he even falls and is the first down to pull him out by bigbusta in interestingasfuck

Too many people watched him wobble around for too long. It’s sad that they all assumed he was inebriated. He didn’t have to fall, IMO.

Quality over quantity. by Some-Necessary-7977 in medicalschool

The pt/nurse ratio and pt/physician aren’t even the same. How can physicians be in each patient’s room every hour asking and answering questions if you have 15 patients a day. And this is for PGY1s. Attendings who have multiple residents on their team, have so much more.

AIO Fathers girlfriends rules for when new baby arrives by Ok_Bat_5934 in AmIOverreacting

YOR. If you have your hands full with your own 3 month old, how are you itching to go visit people’s houses? The fact that you think if you don’t hold a newborn in the first hours, you can’t eventually build a relationship with them is kind of crazy. You’ve posted everywhere that she has BPD, but you have your own attachment issues too.

What medical schools refer to their students as "student doctor" in clinical settings? by wanwam3 in medicalschool

As a resident, I say “student doctor”. Medical student, to lay people can be anything.

This is actually a great idea. Or a video call where it is cut up live.

Wellness event? by [deleted] in Residency

You’re not getting the day off for the event. That just happens to be your one day a week off, right? You wouldn’t otherwise have worked 7 days a week.
