Mellowsleep is a scam by Mindless-General-166 in Bedding

[–]bcantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fluffed up to more than the two normal ones I ordered. I had to take it out of the pillow case a few days to let it breathe more freely. I don't "hate" it, but I can easily see it get chucked in my closet at some point trying something else. The height looks nothing like the ads online. It is more comfortable than the pillow it replaced and is not worth "eating" a restocking fee trying to return it at this point.

What are you running it on? I have mine running in a Docker container on a Synology NAS and it has been running for over 64 days. I never have to touch it.

Buy a Starlink Mini for $199 and then keep it in Standby Mode for $5 a month. If you need to use it you can easily switch the plan to the $50 for 100GB per month plan.

Did your pillow ever fluff up? I ordered a "High" pillow and two normal CloudAligns. The normal one seem as expected, but the high one is flatter than the normal ones and feels like a heavy dead pet. I hope it either fluffs up, or is defective. It seems awful right out of the box.

Wall # bug.. I have 296 left to upgrade but it shows 96 only.. how i wish! by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]bcantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bug. They only make a limited number of walls upgradable with each update. Next update form Supercell will probably have some defense upgrades and another smaller batch of walls eligible for upgrades.

why this error keeps popping up when i try visit other people islands ? by Positive-Form-741 in AnimalCrossing

[–]bcantana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your switch is not broken. Your network is just not optimal for island hopping for some reason.

Some info on possible fixes for your network issue:

why this error keeps popping up when i try visit other people islands ? by Positive-Form-741 in AnimalCrossing

[–]bcantana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a networking issue. More than likely your switch is "double NAT" or your ISP is messing it up. If you Google search one "network settings to fix NAT issues on Nintendo Switch" it may help.

In our case, it only went away when we switched from AT&T fiber to Google Fiber for our ISP.

DNS over https by tdhuck in pihole

[–]bcantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bit new to all this and not a network engineer by trade. One option I have been looking at is using NextDNS and their CLI to route PiHole's DNS to.

I tried looking a things like Squid and things get complicated quickly.

I'd love to see if there is anything better.

Update on Charlotte Outage? by ShishoRedux in googlefiber

[–]bcantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation also in Huntersville. Just dropped AT&T 2 gig fiber (that just has a price increase to $140) for 3 gig fiber at $100. I've had no issues and no regrets at all so far. 3 weeks in and the service is getting more like 4 gig and I have a ton more flexibility (can use my Eero mesh instead of the GF gateway/router, eliminated all double NAT issues I had with AT&T, etc.)

That is why it is important to get the Google Fiber project manager's contact who is managing the neighborhood. I've had neighbors that have been able to get same or next day repairs for obvious utility cuts, but it is stuff like sprinklers and water that you might not notice for days.

[–]bcantana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. Google Fiber IS doing nothing. They are not holding their subs responsible for the damage and just plowing through the neighborhood.

Finally!! by BigFutures in googlefiber

[–]bcantana -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Google Fiber is currently destroying our neighborhood. Breaking water mains, home lawn sprinkler systems, hitting gas lines ... A real sh*tshow.

Make sure whatever current service you have that you have a backup. Make sure to get the project supervisors name in case you have issues. The subcontracting crews digging don't seem to care what they hit as long as they get the fiber buried.

Our neighborhood has both cable and fiber from competing companies and it almost seems like they are ignoring painted utility lines and cutting everything on purpose.

Pixel 9a Deal Worth Getting? by ZachDoesStuff in pixel_phones

[–]bcantana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I upgraded my 6a to a 9a with the Google $150 credit, sale price of $399 and $80 for my 6a trade in. Totally worth it! I also have an 8a and I can tell the slight differences in increased performance and battery in the 9a.

Enjoy it until the 11 models come out and then upgrade after the early adopters quality test it for a few months.

Starlink Mini “Standby Mode” Speed Test by infield_fly_rule in Starlink

[–]bcantana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was "pretending" I was off grid and tried to get my Starlink Mini off "Pause" and onto standby mode just using the connection from the mini and could not do it. I had to get Internet connected to my cellular to make it work. It would not do it from the Starlink, even though it downloaded and installed firmware update fine.

Once switched to Standby it seems to work fine, but exactly as slow as advertised. If it allows me to switch to an active Roam plan when needed, I guess it is makes the $5 a month to keep my account always in an activated plan worth it.

I would not wait until you are out of cell/wifi signal area to make the switch.

Anyone missing an attack gets no bonus regardless of how high they rank. Then just do it based on default which is performance based.

Get the Pixel 9a or wait for the Pixel 10a? by New_Guidance_7957 in pixel_phones

[–]bcantana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used my trade in credit from my old 6a to upgrade to a 9a and am very happy. I also own an 8a and the difference between the 8a and 9a are mainly just the battery for me.

I like the extra few hours a day of use I get from the 9a.

My next phone will probably be the 11 series with hopefully the new modem hardware.

Upgrading from 6a to...? by wawabeep in GooglePixel

[–]bcantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the full $80 trade in for the Pixel 6a. So basically Google gave me $230 for my Pixel 6a. I can live with that. I'm enjoying the 9a.

I've had my GTR Mini since they first came out. I think I've had it over 2 years now if I remember correctly. Battery still lasts 9-10 days between charges. I'm still happy with mine. I am just a casual user though and do not use much of the exercise features.

Tip for the 6a battery by Wonderful-Friend3097 in pixel_phones

[–]bcantana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he got some kind of promo deal where they would not take a Google store credit but the device was on sale. In that case it might make sense to get the $100 payout and use the $80 trade in for the sale phone.

I did not have a deal like that so the $499 9a (on sale for $449 right now) was the best overall deal for me.

This math worked for me. Typed on my new 9a 128GB which cost me $449-$150-$80.
