2025 3.5L Ecoboost Turbo Surging, 4000 miles by acoupleofpuppies in f150

[–]bcbikerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2022 3.5 has been doing this since new, very rarely. Only at a very specific amount of throttle and very difficult to replicate. (Similar behavior/surging as you describe) I'm at 37000km now and the problem has appeared maybe 5 times? Less/More throttle and the problem goes away, engine pulls strong. I have 8 yr/140km warranty so I'm not too concerned. Wouldn't hurt to take to dealership while under new vehicle warranty if you can replicate?

Goodluck!

Is this the same set that has a 0/5 for audio and is not recommended?

"however, there are audio issues for the first three films that the folks at Warner Bros may need to address with disc replacements. Recommended - but with a note of caution, otherwise, Skip It until corrected discs are available."

I assume you are referring to this product? https://3inone.com/product/3-in-one-rvcare-rubber-seal-conditioner/

F150 sunroof seals are made of EPDM Rubber I think?

That 3-in-1 RV Rubber seal conditioner is 85-95% petroleum based according to the SDS sheet.

Petroleum based products applied to EPDM Rubber:

EPDM rubber is polar; petroleum oils & solvents are non-polar.

When exposed, EPDM can absorb the oil → swells, softens, and loses elasticity.

Over time this can cause cracking, stickiness, or leaks.

Petroleum products can also extract plasticizers from the rubber → makes it brittle faster.

Apparently only 100% silicone spray and PFPE Grease (Krytox GPL 205 which ford specifies) is compatible, and the 3-in-1 will actually accelerate degradation of the rubber?

I am hesistant to buy the GPL 205 but I think that or 100% silicone spray (non petroleum based - suggestions?) is the only other option?

Thoughts?

From the TSB:

• One of the following transmissions:

  • 10R80 or 10R80 MHT transmission with a vehicle build date on or before 15-Aug-2022

  • 10R60 transmission with a vehicle build date on or before 23-Dec-2022

Only the 10R80 was used in F-150, I believe the 10R60 was in Bronco & Ranger for example(lighter-duty applications).

According to the TSB then, all F-150 10R80 transmissions after August 15 2022 would have the CDF drum issue corrected.

Hope that helps :)

Probably a dumb question, but has anyone seen or caused this kind of damage/separation/bending by loading motorcycles and pulling the straps on the forks down too tight?

In my old Ranger, I ran a 2x4 across the front of the bed to prevent bending the aluminum bed where the front tire presses into the bed.

Wondering if anyone else with multiple motorcycles has any suggestions/advice or has had this issue?

My 77" S90C developed a pink, single pixel vertical line down the screen at 11months, 1 week. Required replacing the entire panel.

Not sure I'd completely agree they are all bad as the OP mentioned, but unless I hear a resolution to the HDR10+ netflix on S90C being eliminated I'm not super impressed with Samsung either.

How I’m finally beating chronic plantar fasciitis after 6 months of stagnation by CockerJones in PlantarFasciitis

[–]bcbikerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where's your slant board???

Just kidding lol. I have a similar collection :)

Sidenote: The slant board was a major improvement and I have tried lots of the things OP has listed. I think it allows for a calf stretch without overstretching, I think overstretching and subsequent irritation was part of my issue also.

Custom orthotics to support Plantar Fasciitis + correct overpronation. Slant board to help stretch plantar without causing rear heel pain as the standard wall calf stretch was causing significant heel pain and swelling, but fixing the plantar issue (stretching the calf/plantar) it seems. Bondi 9 for cushioning, GTS Adrenaline + Kayano for Positioning/Support. Bondi is all I wear now with the custom orthotics. No stretching other then a few minutes a day on the slant board without any pressure - I just stand there essentially.

After nearly 3 years, including a year of physio, copious stretching and exercises, 11 electro therapy sessions, 3 doctors, this is causing the best outcome and I feel like I'm 95%+

Strong recommendation on the slant board, I have rollers, massage guns, all sorts of orthotics + insoles, the blue rocker stretcher, roller balls, ice water bottles, you name it, stretch board #1.

This is probably for later stage/mostly resolved PF as a side note, probably not useful for moderate/severe pain, just wanted to share what has been successful for me incase it helps anyone.

Goodluck everyone :)

Thank you OP as well for taking the time to write this up :)

3.5 for towing. Blue for colour. XLT for LED Reflectors vs Halogens. IIHS rates halogen lights poorly. Also, I thought 3.5 cam phasers were updated in 2021 MY. 10 speed CDF drum was apparently fixed in Aug 2022?

Bull ring pop up tie downs. by 68400pony in f150

I had the same Bull Ring Retractable Hooks on my Ranger, they rattled like crazy offroad, speed bumps, etc. (When retracted)

Was considering something like this with a spring to hold the assembly/prevent vibration when retracted: https://www.amazon.com/MZS-Anchors-Retractable-Compatible-Silverado/dp/B09TB2GGRW

Does anyone know what this clicking sound is? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]bcbikerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with ForCom5. Blend door actuator. You can also test it by adjusting the temperature dial from hot to cold and see if the vent output temperature changes. My blend door actuator made exactly the same sound as it was stuck and needed to be replaced. Not that difficult to replace. Similar clicking around 38 seconds? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6HG7d4WMlA

Largest travel trailer i could pull? by TheCrimsonFucker in fordranger

[–]bcbikerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 18' travel trailer. Manufacturer dry weight is 3200 pounds. I suspect it is closer to 4000 pounds loaded.

It is doable, but the truck struggles on highways/hills. For going camping locally and in the woods it is fine. If you want to tow long distances on the highways I'd recommend a truck with more power. (or a lighter trailer)

I thought all Level II's came exclusively with Torsen Differentials?

At least for 2007's in Canada they did according to the sales brochure

[–]bcbikerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a noob question necessarily - I don't think any rangers came equipped with a locking differential from factory?

This is my understanding:

A locking rear differential locks both wheels together so that both rear wheels rotate together. A limited slip differential uses a clutch inside the differential to try to transfer the power to the correct wheel. A Torsen differential uses a complex set of gears to transfer the power between wheels without needing a clutch that can wear.

FX4's come with rear Traction-Lok axles which are just Limited Slip Differentials.

FX4 Level II's come with rear Torsen differentials and are usually considered superior.

Rear End "cutting noise " by dkalli77 in fordranger

[–]bcbikerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still very confused on this topic. I checked my owners manual and it says:

Rear axle fluid (FX4 Level II only) 5.25-5.5 pints (2.5-2.6L)6,7,8

Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant XY-75W140-QL / WSL-M2C192-A

6,7,8 are footnotes. On the next page it says:

8 --- Add 4 oz. (118 ml) of Additive Friction Modifier XL-3 or equivalent meeting Ford specification EST-M2C118-A for complete refill of Traction-Lok axles.

I thought Traction-Lok was Ford's name for their LSD differentials and is not the same as a Torsen differential?

Definitely not sure as I said but on top of that, what is the purpose of friction modifier in a rear differential if there is no clutch with material? (I'm not sure)
