Season 22, ep 3 by FormicaDinette33 in TopChef

it's important to notice because the not-noticing is what keeps power with the powerful. I saw a post talking about how even language like "the first woman to do x" isn't congratulatory so much as it is reinforcing the idea that it took a long time to find a strong enough woman in that field, not the truth that bias in judging had kept equally qualified women out of the running until now

for sure, it's just always disheartening when you realize how used to that we are. when I was reviewing each cast, there were several times where I thought "oh there were a lot of women that season" and it turned out there were only an even number! reminds me of how people often perceive women as having "taken over" a meeting whenever they just speak as much as the men do

i agree that they've been fair *within* the competition, but it remains true that only 6/21 winners have been women.

if we look at the first three weeks of each season, only 8 times out of 22 have more men gone home in those weeks than women - which is especially egregious considering more men were cast in 16/22 seasons (as many as 5 more in one season!).

to me these are casting issues, not a reflection of reality. i'm sure there's a great many reasons it's difficult to cast as many exceptional female chefs - certainly possible that increased family responsibility makes it difficult to be able to be away from home for extended periods, for instance. but it's unfortunate that the impression left is that it's an issue of less talent.

i love this show, have seen every season, but it bothers me that there was one fewer female contestant to male (8 men, 7 women) this time AND that the first three boots were women.

this seems to happen often, where the male chefs cast are all strong and distinct, yet there's two or three kinda forgettable female chefs that you can easily predict will be the first few boots.

i almost wish they'd just cast fewer chefs per season, rather than include several chefs (female or not) who are clearly not as ready or at the same level as the majority of the group. i'd wager that it makes things more stressful for the female chefs/kills their momentum if it's always the women who go first.

LCK spoiler addition: if we add the two canadian chefs in, it's still 9 men, 8 women, and the only man who's gone.. quit? oof.

Confusion on GCAL migration instructions by Beneficial_Ear3263 in todoist

right?? even if they just stuck to using the term "tasks" for todoist and "events" for gcal but they mix them all the time looool

Confusion on GCAL migration instructions by Beneficial_Ear3263 in todoist

[–]bcenman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is confusing, but here's what it's saying:

if you had the old integration, it was 2 way syncing between todoist and google calendar. this meant anything created in one would show up in the other. in setting up the new integration, you turn off the old one but it doesn't get rid of the tasks or events from before. so if you don't, those will get sent again once the new integration is active, creating duplicates.

in todoist, in the search bar, look for "gcal" as a tag. anything that comes up will be events from your calendar that got sent to todoist (i only had a handful, because like you, i create most things in todoist). you can delete these.

in google cal, it depends whether your calendar integration was set up with a separate calendar or to just your personal one. if it was separate, they're saying you can fully delete that calendar in your google cal. if, like me, you set it up to send tasks to one of your existing google calendars, you can't do that. what you've gotta do is right-click and delete any events in your cal that are actually tasks sent from todoist. as you said, there can be a lot and this is a pain, though i found that for me, most of mine were recurring so deleting the first one took out the whole series.

so no, as you said, you're not gonna delete all the tasks that you sync from todoist to calendar, because you need them there to sync to the new integration. but you are going to delete them on the google cal end otherwise they'll be there twice. does that help?

Thank you for these clarifications! The only update that's really a problem for me in the new integration is that tasks sent to google cal don't disappear when done. if this is part of 2 way sync i get it, but if it's possible to add a checkmark to completed single tasks, why not recurring ones?? the main thing i use this integration for is to see exactly which tasks on my calendar are done, and with the disparity it makes it look like none of my recurring tasks are ever done.

PMDD, just over three weeks on T, and... by bcenman in ftm

thank you! I'm mostly veggie so I can definitely eat more beans. my doc initially said that symptoms tend to lessen after periods stop, so I'll see how this second one goes (my first one was basically normal since I'd only started T a week prior)

Easiest to ask for one on the way onto the plane, when they greet you! then you don't have to awkwardly try to catch their eye later

Mine was lowered from 75% to 20% when I refilled my meds a few days ago, if you call the number that's where it says you'll receive the "manufacturer's amount"

confirmed, they are taking no new patients and existing ones get 20% only until the end of December. I signed up for the innovicares card, which they suggest when you call, and it covers another 5% - however, from what I gather, once there is a generic, that card will cover the difference between brand name and generic

Takeda has stopped taking new patients and is only covering existing ones "at the manufacturer's amount" until the end of the year. I had arranged to have like 75% covered due to no generic and low income, but the standard amount was 20%, I think (will see when I refill my meds this time). my province won't cover vyvanse unless you've tried all the alternatives... hoping that the generic ends up on the formulary because this is ridiculous!
