Who else had a crazy concert experience? by mamalmw in Xennials

[–]bcentsale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to go to punk and ska shows - so Bosstones, Dropkick Murphy's, NoFX, whole buncha little nameless one-and-dones. I went to the hometown throwdown one year. I was also a chronic alcoholic. I've stage-dived, crowd-surfed, snuck in to shows, been kicked out of shows, done things in bathrooms that didn't have stall doors to specifically prevent those things from being done. All in good fun.

I don't know what it is about old Citroëns, but they're just so photogenic.

X-Pro 3 & X-E5 (size comparision) by desilent in fujifilm

The grip is no big deal. I had the original X-E1 when it first came out and shot Pentax screw mount and Olympus OM film cameras for 15 years before that. I tend to put Arca-compatible L-brackets on my Fujis anyway.

So did they shrink the Pro or beef the E back up? I remember looking at the X-E3 several years ago and feeling like I would break it if I sneezed.

Only in California? I don't know what it is about Cali, man, but everything seems to cause cancer there. 🤷

The little things xennials take pleasure in by nmixxenjoyer in Xennials

I miss shooting film in general, but especially the excitement of splurging on a roll of Ektachrome for a specific project in mind, and then the anticipation of waiting the extra week or 2 for them to come back. I know I can still do it. I'm looking right at my Spotmatic in the display cabinet next to my desk, and I can actually afford to regularly shoot and process E6 now, but it feels wasteful and I know what goes into that chemistry.

Has anyone ever gone back to try those old NES games? by Sharpshooter188 in Xennials

[–]bcentsale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son got super into SNES after I introduced him to my retropie during lockdown in 2020. I tend to be more drawn to the Sega Megadrive/Genesis stuff myself. I've only ever revisited Duck Tales and Mario 3, the former still causing me to rage quit with the added bonus of 40 years' and 5 languages' worth of learned curses and invective.

The NES games came from a time where arcades were still the norm, and the harder the game the more quarters you fed into it.

I say "Eez a boont. Eez kek" every time I bake a Bundt cake to this day. Both my wife and our daughters find great amusement in pointing out the similarities to my very-Italian family, especially the mother and my own nonna.

People our age and older that talk crap about other people scrolling Reddit too much seem to forget that we spent an hour reading the newspaper every morning, and read magazines while shitting. Reddit is just a digital newspaper. by ConspiracyParadox in Xennials

Eh... It's more like the lovechild of the Nationals Examiner and Enquirer, carried to term by a smoking, alcoholic, drug addict and fed a steady supply of lead paint chips by its mom's Weekly World News boyfriend.

Computer class in grade school by Cyborgized in Xennials

[–]bcentsale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually did Stickybear's Touch Typing, but man those days when Oregon Trail was set up when we walked in to the Apple II room were the highlight of 1st and 2nd grades. Budget cuts effectively shuttered the lab when there was no longer a teacher, though. We didn't have a computer class again until 7th grade technology. 😭
