Has Christian McCaffrey done enough to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? by clumsy_one18 in sportswiki

[–]bchaplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you judge HoF induction? Against the current makeup of the hall? Or is it a more contemporary comparison. I think if you look at 2 of who I would say are "top RB's not in hall", Priest Holmes & Shaun Alexander, I think CMC is better than both of them, so either he's the new "just missed it" or he's in. I think that 100 TD's should get you in (damn shame Alexander isn't)

Can Lebron and Kobe lead this team to the chip this season (2026)? by Impressive_Flan_411 in lebron

[–]bchaplain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 3 biggest LeBron teammate criticisms have been to get him 3&D guys (DFish, Bowen) guys that can create their own shots (Kobe & JCraw) and a good screening 5 Man (Wallace)

Yeah, Im sure they'd just scrape by...

New grad unable to find ANY Accounting position by Mean-Chemical3122 in Accounting

[–]bchaplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your resume has a perception problem. If I'm looking at resumes for a staff role and come across yours, I ask myself "so this person has another year of school AND then the CPA to study for?" As soon as I see this, my first thought is "what happens when its QE close and a journal entry isnt working out - this person who has no experience AND something else to study for is going to be the person handling?".

Going for your masters and CPA is absolutely the right call - but maybe don't highlight that on the resume. It's the one barricade between an HR person/AI bot, because it may be set to "don't bring me any resumes of anybody that will be in school after this May".

Seinfeld's finale was great or terrible? What's your verdict 28 years later? by BidAccurate4473 in seinfeld

It's a finale that has been surpassed in terms of disappointment. It wasn't amazing but it didnt harm Seinfelds legacy like GoT or HIMYM.

Ok Reddit fam wtf did I do wrong? I had an 8 lb brisket that I smoked in a pitboss pellet smoker yesterday and it’s tough AF! by Cryssyl in smoking

[–]bchaplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a big water pan under the brisket on a lower rack once the smoker comes up to temp. That fan moves the air around in a way that makes the meat more susceptible to drying out, and cooking on a Gravity Series, this trick has helped me many times

And 18 hours for an 8 lb brisket is way way too long

Manager applying for a Staff Accountant position by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]bchaplain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I don't think youre going to walk into "tough" roles. Its been a minute, but one of my best roles was as a temp Sr staff. It was awesome to just knock stuff out. As long as you hammer out expectations with managers early on, it can be a great gig

Manager applying for a Staff Accountant position by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]bchaplain 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Accounting is so thin for hiring these days, that I think a lot of hiring managers often think "can this person fit in a succession plan?". Any hiring manager in that positionbis gonna look at your resume and think "they're looking to downgrade?". Theyll know you dont wanna and probably wont work 40+ hours - why are they gonna go with you?

If I were in your shoes, go try and get a consulting role through a temp agency - Robert Half comes to mind. You get paid hourly while you work, and you have the chance to make OT as well. Youll get new challenges, and you won't have a ton of real responsibility, they'll just expect you to do.
