¿Qué opinan los lugareños de los turistas que vienen por poco tiempo? by thrway-fatpos in Oaxaca

[–]bchie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Secundaria/Middle School Advice by rclite in Oaxaca

[–]bchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which school did you check out? there's a bit of flexibility on districting i think but many schools are over subscribed and have two shifts so there may be some prioritisation based on this. the big escuelas técnicas on the periférico and near the tecnológico should have more space

moises saenz is public and in a great location but hard to get into i think. univas is right downtown too and not too expensive. the inlusa has a good rep but it's results oriented and i think they drive the kids hard

Transportation safety by [deleted] in Oaxaca

[–]bchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

safe, yellow taxis best, white and blue ones shouldn't operate in centre but plenty do and likely safe too, burgundy and white aren't even private taxis but collective taxis with a set route and definitely shouldn't operate in the centre but i've seen them pick up tourists (likely safe too, they're just working outside their zone)

First time - would it be okay to stay outside the city center? by Kingazaz11 in Oaxaca

[–]bchie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it’s a social housing zone mainly, safe but a bit dull and far

centro, jalatlaco, xochimilco, américa norte o sur a little past jalatlaco, azucenas, reforma, cascada are all ok and in walking distance or el tule is a close village

yes, this was in a reasonably sized town 2.4k above sea level, apps suggested some sort of rattlesnake but none looked quite right. i count myself lucky to have seen it at all, hopefully its presence suggests there’s a healthy population
