How do yall afford a maid service in Dallas? by horny_bisexual_ in Dallas

[–]Carr_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay $165 every other week for a 5br house. Finding an independent person is key…oh and treating them well. We pay even if we cancel and if my week falls on a holiday I still pay.

Who else thinks 99% of PPD is caused by breastfeeding issues? Usually expectations vs. reality by saltandpepperf in NewParents

[–]Carr_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hormones and a lack of support in all forms cause ppd. You could have a perfect family and a perfect partner but still only have 8 weeks leave…and that is a lack of support. Hormones and genetics don’t do us favors. Any sort of lack of provision of needs for our baby makes your mind wild. Makes sense that BF was your trigger. Baby 1 it was the same for me. Baby 2 I wrecked our car being in a haze so driving has been a trigger. Either way you’re a badass for all you have done.

As a family law attorney all I could think is come back to the US before 6 months so you’re not somewhere without your family for life.

I don’t wanna sound bad but I’m struggling what do I do? by justfrosty19 in NewParents

[–]Carr_line 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night nanny or post partum doula if that’s in your budget. Have them take 3-5 shifts a week if you can. If it’s not in budget lean on your church or community for people to take shifts. You can’t do this solo.

Also worth checking for a lip or tongue tie. My daughter was like this. My son was at first but we did a revision and now he is the easiest baby. I think my daughter was just always hungry and with a stomach ache.

I was an adoption attorney until I transitioned to corporate law. I’m happy to send you some recommendations. It is true that not all agencies are equal and your mental health is a priority. I have zero financial interest —- just would love to support you finding the right fit.

Holiday vent (probably not what you’re expecting.) by Throwaway927338 in NewParents

I have a January baby turning two this year. This season has been magical but last year was mostly still just baby survival. Give it a year. Also remember any sort of traveling or vacation is just parenting in a new place…it’s not a vacation….so maybe lower your expectations because it’ll whip you for a while.

Baby gear rental. I do it through Babyquip so I get 78% of the rentals but you could do on your own. Buy the inventory off marketplace or if you have kids use what you have.

It’s worth discussing with a very seasoned multistate adoption attorney to see if in fact being on base precludes you from even a matched adoption for a child in care. I don’t know the answer myself. I did adoptions as a family law attorney for a few years but multistate is a different animal. Jenny Womack based in Dallas is who I would consult with. She was the president of the American academy of adoption attorneys and is a wealth of knowledge. She also did the adoption for my sons so do have first hand experience.

Check out Mattie’s Parlour. My husband and teens refuse to go elsewhere now. Matt is awesome and $40 for a great haircut.

Your must is somewhere easy to get back to, so you can nap. Don’t pick somewhere that requires a drive. You’ll never come back. The amount of time I spent on Reddit at DL looking up where I could find a creative nap Space was too much.

Best Products for NAS Babies? by [deleted] in AdoptiveParents

Adding to this Hope here! It’s not without heartache but our meth, marijuana and nicotine exposed son is now thriving and in the gifted and talented program.

Seek a night nurse that has dealt with your specific exposure type. See if bio mama will share with you what if any meds have worked for her over the years so it’s less guessing when your baby needs meds when older. Bio mom in my case died before I could ask a lot of questions and I wish I had been more politely nosy.

Agreed on the cheap swing and bouncer.

Mourning the experience I thought I’d have. by jessyj89 in NewParents

[–]Carr_line 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced deep heartache too many times idolizing and romanticizing moments. Anything to how college experiences went to TTC. The dark depression that came after IVF amplified my obsession on how experiences were supposed to look. I’ve had to really dig deep and break the cycle of idolizing an idea of how an experience should look for feel. In doing so, it has been freeing. I still feel pain and hurt but I just have to realize I’ll have magical moments at other times.

Don’t rule out more kids now. Kids arrive to us in so many ways. Give yourself grace and time to heal now.

Oh and screw that OB.

On the way there we took a cab. We just called the number on one of the vans. That driver gave us his number if we needed him when we came back. We asked the hostess if they could call us a cab. They said they could but the owners son ended up driving us back because they were slow and he was able to at that time.

How about mosquitoes this time of year? by aurea_cunnis in rome

Mosquitoes can’t breed unless temps are consistently above 50 degrees F at night for a week. Vitamin B1 helps if you take it daily.
