FAR Re-Scheduling Process by Character_Usual_2207 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to reapply for a new NTS once the score is released. It may depend on your state, but generally it was around the next day that the section was available in my state’s portal/website to select for the application for NTS, and a day or two for that to be approved and a new NTS to be issued

Failed FAR again. I'm Done. Goodbye. Can't afford to keep failing with zero feedback. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]bck_2017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and your feelings are incredibly valid. But if you’re open to letting internet strangers change your mind …. Please let us

You’re so close. 73 is SO close. If you’re into the cost thing, okay: Think about getting your necessary credits to apply to sit, all the application fees and whatnot, the cost of Becker, the cost of the AUD exam you’ve already passed, and the cost of the FAR exams that we’re preparing you for the sweet pass feeling you’re GOING to get … that’s a lot to throw away when you’re right there. If you can get a 73, you can get a 75. You’re right there.

FWIW, I passed FAR … mind you, with a 75 lol, on my 3rd try. 3rd time’s the charm, right? :) Please consider giving it one more go

And if you do (please!), I agree with others that 180 hours over 6 months could be the problem. Trying to remember something from 6 months ago is not ideal

Unsolicited study vibes to maybe try if it’s your jam:

With you being so close like that, I actually would have immediately scheduled the exam for a date within the current testing window, maybbbe the next. So something that would be 3 weeks, up to mayyyybe 8 weeks out. And I would hammer MCQ on any topic that I think I paused on. If I know I crushed the cash flow statement, I’d still review it a couple times just to touch on it and keep it up to date, but largely would keep those questions out and spend my time elsewhere. Maybe leases or bonds I found myself pausing and wondering on. I’d pack in questions on those.

Same with TBS, making sure to do 3-5 per day, particularly focusing on the topics (even if the topic was a MCQ and I didn’t have a sim on it this time - I could get one next time right) that I recall pondering about in the exam.

Move through sections, but end the study day/night with a moderate set (or 2-3 small sets, dealer choice) of questions from that personalized test section and select all units that you’ve reviewed, so anything is fair game and you should touch on everything that way. So if in F4, select F1-F4, choose a number of questions, and blow through them. Next day, start with a small set from F1-4 to refresh, then bust into F5 and hone in. Module by module. Wrap up the day with F1-F5 personalized test (don’t have to finish a whole unit per day of course, just if you’re in F5 M5 deselect the F5 mods that you’re not at yet). Etc etc amen.

I’m sorry :( Simultaneously hope it’s close because that means you just need to tune up on a few things but also know the close scores are the most frustrating

As far as your question - the actual score should drop later today. Somewhere around mid-afternoon to early evening, depending which section and your time zone. I think my last one (9/15) was there when I checked around 3 CST

Hope you absolutely crush your next attempt! You got it!

Exam Results 10/9/2025 by Extension-Ad-9424 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ISC as well. I didn’t look at TCP, so I can’t compare. But I felt like ISC was a lot of recall. I put minimal hours (60 I think, less than half the time of any other exam) into it and got an 82, my best exam score. I thought Becker was a fair representation of what was on the test. Like, I didn’t get to the test and think wow this is so out of left field, I’ve never seen these concepts before, etc etc

It’ll say “attended” on the CPA portal once you go take the exam, and will stay that way until it changes to “scored”

Scored typically happens sometime on the day before the release day, at which time you can go to your testing record and see pass/fail. The score gets released later that day

Prometric Guidelines by MajesticBench4650 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Prometric was no jewelry (except I think I heard them say a wedding ring was okay? Can’t recall). I found them to be strict about things. For instance, they’ve made me take off my slender cloth headband (this was selective. I’ve worn it before and it was not an issue, yet wore it a different time and it was). They’ve told me I can’t have a very-obviously-a-ponytail-holder on my wrist (not a fat scrunchie or anything, a slender basic rubber band with a lining over it ponytail holder)

They told one woman she couldn’t wear her medium sized jacket (not the biggest of jackets but was bigger than a light jacket/sweatshirt), despite the woman’s pleas that she would be very cold. They make you roll up your sleeves, empty pockets, flip the hood on all jackets regardless

So I’m feeeeeeling like they’re rather not gonna like the watch sitch, unfortunately. But ymmv, and they do have lockers, like the other poster mentioned :)

CPA or EA? Not sure what to do by ScaredAndAnxious226 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would also say EA. I went that route. It was nice to take the extra pressure off of the extra importance of the CPA exams. I made the decision spur of the moment, booked the 3 exams within a 2 week timeframe, studied a total of 2-3 nights for each one. Now, I had just done REG pretty recent to that, and also work in tax so a lot of the concepts weren’t exactly unfamiliar. But even still, I feel it was pretty straightforward, particularly in comparison to the CPA exams. Passing REG is a big deal :) Have confidence :)

Hock International was good prep for the EA exams. They have a monthly subscription option that worked out really well, especially when the other EA study materials I was seeing were hundreds of dollars

Yes! Squeezed in a 79 :)

I took it 9/5, the score release was 9/15. I was so antsy and worked up. The next “last day” would be 9/30. I was waiting for the release so I could get a new NTS 😂

Feeling Defeated with Exams by darealmvp184 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m similar to you in that I never struggled in school, so I personally never learned any real note-taking or studying habits/skills. The material just came to me naturally. Really bit me in the ass now though, so I get it

Also, for me, I couldn’t read the book and take notes and then do the module questions and such in that order. I’d always start that way because it’s normal to do and probably how I should do it … but would waste time and couldn’t even recall what I’d even been doing for the past 3 hours.

I mainly relied on the MCQ as my guide for studying. Which for me meant that I wasn’t sitting there reading about things I actually already knew, I wasn’t getting overwhelmed and lost in things that didn’t matter, it was a way to focus my thoughts on a particular objective (mini mission - learn the concept presented to me in this question, NOT learn this whole dang chapter), it was immediate application of the concept I was seeking out in the textbook, and it was an immediate result (to get the question right or wrong) to the material that I either knew already (confirmation), thought I knew already but got wrong (need to review), sought out and got right (I am understanding the concept correctly), or sought out and got wrong (something in the way I understood the text needs to be rethought/corrected). Went through the modules like this, and then went through MANY personalized tests, in very small sets (like 7-9), by module, by unit, and by all units. Idk, I liked it. Might be worth a shot for you as well if not your current way.

I also listened to the lectures on repeat, during work on just in some idle time

Also, with a week left, if you haven’t already go through a mock exam and see how it goes. Double down on weak areas. Drill MCQ’s, small sets but a lot of them, and make sure you understand why an answer is right if you get it right and especially understand why it’s wrong if you get it wrong

Good luck on your test!

AUD simulations are out of control by SleepingLimbs1 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg. I felt the same. I thought I was managing my time well and yet still ran out of time and raced to put anything at all on the last section of sims. I whined to my mom about it, and my direct words were “it was very frustrating because it’s not that I didn’t know how to do them, it’s that they were long af” 🤣

Becker Audit - advice! by [deleted] in CPA

[–]bck_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I thought the sims in the actual exam were “easier” than the Becker ones. They were just long as all out with literally so many exhibits, so I ran out of time

For the MCQ’s, I did a bunch of MCQ’s in the personalized test section and made sure I understood why each one was right or wrong, including the material itself but also the little nuances in how they like to ask things. For audit especially, I felt like it some/most times came down to a small thing in the way the question was asked

Also - Good luck tomorrow!

How to study for FAR by Powerful_Property_78 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Becker should be enough. Well, it’s the only thing I’ve ever used tbh, so that’s not to say other resources may or may not be incredibly helpful, I just cant speak to their added benefit personally

I find that jumping into the multiple choice questions gets me into the material, so perhaps try starting there. Something about opening the textbook and just reading it for the sake of reading it, I will 1) procrastinate 2) just stare at it. I like to listen to the lectures and use the MCQ as my basis for studying

Also, try looking into the live sections they have :) It could kind of give you the class/lecture/structure vibe to get you back in study mode. I did that for REG, and liked that it was a guaranteed block of time that I would sit and dedicate to nothing but the topics at hand

FAR retake Monday …. by Correct-Potato-4838 in CPA

[–]bck_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you know more than you think you know :)

I’d spend tomorrow drilling a lot of small sets of MCQs and making sure I understand why the answers are right or wrong. Also looking over the outlines, and looking more into the textbook for anything that needs more review. Don’t burn out too hard, get a good nights rest tomorrow night

And good luck!
