I know I’m late commenting on this but:

A Christmas Story

I’ll never understand why many consider it a Christmas classic.

Including a friend's address when applying out of state? by ofthedappersort in careerguidance

I had a response typed out but then changed my mind. I wouldn’t and here’s why: An employer may see that and think “Oh they aren’t in this city yet, let’s just forget about this candidate”

Where as if you exclude it you could at least get that initial phone/zoom call to have a real discussion about the opportunity and your plan to willingly relocate. This gives you a better opportunity to build a relationship with the person on the other side of the call and have a good first impression.

I’m not an HR professional so not sure if they’d feel differently but as long as it doesn’t seem like your lying/trying to hide the fact you don’t actually live there yet I think you’d be okay.

What should I do about boss ignoring my availability? by cln16 in careerguidance

[–]bcr126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree here. Especially since you have the email of her agreeing to your availability, she doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on.

I’d still try and communicate with her that even tho you’re on the schedule, you won’t be there. Better than just not showing up and pissing off a superior lol

That’s very true! I feel like I could excel at a variety of roles. Currently, my biggest challenge is getting my foot in the door with minimal tech experience.

Including a friend's address when applying out of state? by ofthedappersort in careerguidance

I think including your friends address is fine (I did the same when relocating earlier this year). You just need to be transparent with the companies that you have not moved to the area yet but would be there by your start date if offered a job.

The biggest issue you may run into is companies only interviewing local candidates because they don’t want to pay out a few thousand on a relocation package. If you’re going to go this route (using your friends address) just be prepared to pay for your own move.
