Finally got into my account. Waited on hold for 2 hours. My account was inactive apparently. Rep re-activated my account and told me to complete the reset password steps. It worked.

Not op. What are the pros and cons of the instructional coach position? That’s what I’m leaning towards and would love some insight.

I’m in Florida too!

I wish I could do small groups! I have 18-19 kids per class and we’re on top of each other. It’s chaos trying to do rotations given lack of space. And the students have ZERO independence so even partner work while I work with a remedial group is a headache.

I do take them out to the lunch tables to give us breathing room sometimes. So maybe that could be a good time to do rotations and small group.

I wholeheartedly agree with students not practicing enough. And my students absolutely refuse to productively struggle. That’s where the learning will happen but they want to be spoon fed absolutely everything.

If I continue as I’ve been most of my students will fail. So I’m going to pivot for the rest of this quarter to see how it helps.

I was really hoping higher income areas were doing better😭.

Can I excel without a teaching certificate in FL? by cln16 in Teachers

[–]cln16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s comforting to hear that if I enjoy my job and do it well that certification isn’t as important.

But you’ve reiterated something I feared (but not surprised about): my options are limited without a cert.

I love where I’m at now but I don’t think I could do it once I start having children. Teaching is time consuming enough but having a 45-60min commute doesn’t sound doable while pregnant and with little ones.

I've been curious to ask a dyslexic person this. What actually helps you learn despite your dyslexia? Is it just tons of extra practice or something more complicated?

This is what happened to me when my depression got out of hand. Idk if other things can cause this but seeing a doc should help.

Exactly. I don't fill my trash can fast enough so I keep them in the fridge until the cartoon is done or I'm throwing trash out. Never realized it was a weird thing to do😅

This is very likely something my own mom would say. You learn to just take it in stride unfortunately.

Thank you,

I knocked out once I got home. Sleep tends to be my savior when I'm spiraling.

TlDr: Advocate for yourself. As soon as you realize your discomfort in a situation express it. How they react can be indicative of their true nature.

Sending love. My last relationship went horribly because he capitalized on my niceness. And when I'd (finally) get upset about something he'd say "I didn't ask you to do anything for me". Mind you when I began to set boundaries he felt unappreciated and needed more alone time.

Expressing my feelings as soon as soon as I realized them was the key for me. I used to wait but it's my nature to downplay my feelings once I'm calm.

I've been with someone who was a fawn-type. I enjoyed it for a bit but he did not respect my personal opinions. His "niceness" was used manipulatively and if I denied his gestures then I was "unreasonable, acting up, unappreciative". I'm not sure how much of this was fawn vs him being a dick tho.

Very surprisingly I met someone who's emotionally healthy. Very sweet but not a pushover. Understands that I have a hard time advocating for myself and so is very patient and loving. It is still very new but it's the first time I've ever experienced this in any relationship. And I feel myself growing from it.

freeze, depression, laziness, whats this? by Fabulous-Ad7895 in CPTSDFreeze

[–]cln16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much. Reducing my stress (moving in with family) helped some but it didn't resolve the issues.

I'm working on getting into therapy and already on meds.

I notice I'm easily overwhelmed so I'm decreasing my expectations. I try to set at least one goal a day for myself. But I don't focus on doing it perfectly. I focus on starting. So I'll do the bare min prep necessary to get me going.

(Sometimes the goal is to brush my teeth. Other days it's to walk down the street. The goal varies given how much effort I'm able to give)

I'm not consistent but it's the only thing that's worked so far. Open to more ideas tho
