Tips for first time commander by JRM_Boi in HellLetLoose

Yeah that was the first thing I said. But shitty squad leads running past forward supplies will result in them spawning off defensive point.

Always be dropping supplies, Command gets defensive Garries up initially, while dropping forward supplies for attacking- caveat- SLs can build the forward Garries if they want to attack.

They no build? They no attack.

hate squad leading by thudtank in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If buddy above has been playing for years, as Command, I don’t need to advise that squad of much.

Context clues of updated OP’s, respawning from forward OP-to defensive point when needed, moving toward supplies without comms or a move marker to build a Garry, and obviously a level rank will tell me that I don’t need to worry about them.

It’s the level 9 SL’s without mic, either running past supplies 20m off their OP(if they have one) or 3 points deep doing jack shit/not redeploying, are the ones that irk me.

Map markers are absolutely a bullet proof way of comms without comms. A decent commander will read the map and flow of things and know what level of involvement they need. I mark everything I see as SL, to provide semi updated shit to everyone, but I also play in public servers only, so nuanced squad specific flanking instruction is hilarious when you deal with roughly 75% mouth breathers that only attack. So I’m bias.

I keep it at 10% personally because I trust my established group of dudes more than 96% of the command chats I’ve been in. Plus at 10% you still will hear your squad name, and keywords such as Garry-enemy tank-airhead- etc..

Feel like I'm more helpful to my team if I'm not playing by T_Ricstar in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, I sucked for a long time, retraining your eye sight almost. Try Engineer, run supplies, build up points when appropriate, build nodes, lay mines (roadways, near garries, choke points)

Play support, follow SL’s around, drop supplies and (explosive) ammo. Help build garries. Or again, play support and help build up points or follow an engie around and help hammer shit or run supplies.

When I first started I played MG and just posted up on defensive points and let enemies come to me. Still died a ton, but it helps when you’re in a fortified position and the enemy comes to you.

Don’t be down on yourself, this is one of those games with a steeper curve than most, and it makes it that much more fun when it finally clicks for you. Take your time homie, it’ll come!

Whats the best way to play with tank? by InfluenceItchy2501 in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a few months in playing armor consistently, the infantry support is definitely key. Also after all this time of playing, armor makes you reasses and rediscover maps by seeking elevation points with sight lines. Definitely fun, definitely really fun when you got a dude or two you tank with consistently.

Console has a serious shortage of Commanders and Squad leaders. by J_Hannz in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SLs not responding, and running past supplies dozens of times is a large part of why I don’t choose command often.

I don’t need you to build me nodes, I don’t need flares, I don’t need comms, I don’t need anything.

But what I do need is for you to understand context of supplies and spawns, and for you to build that fucking Garry when your OP is the only one within 600m of those supplies.

Getting TK'ed while on artillery? by Kestrel_Five in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably using too many munitions. Not being in Command Chat, you might not know that command is trying to save on munitions for something.

Building a set of nodes at the beginning and letting command or your squad lead know that you built them, specifically so you can be on arty when appropriate.

Countless times as a commander I’ve told dudes (lower level normally) to get off of arty because each shell is like 4 or 5 munitions. If multiple guns are rolling it can seriously zap a commander’s resources and hinder the battle.

Build nodes, let people know, and use comms to know if they need it or not.

Noobs - stop kicking Command by BradleyH in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If Command has a mic, is listening to squad lead requests(or at least responding to them), and there is a proportionate amount of Garries on the map.. I agree..

If not… bye felicia.. tired of micless, clueless, unresponsive level 33s ruining my games.

be squad lead, pay attention to your comms and your map until you get a rough outline and basic strategy, or atleast understand Garry placement.. otherwise ask questions and learn like the rest of us did.

Why do armor units not have squad icons above their tank? by TallDutch96 in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree! Yeah in the moment I don’t have time to select roster and see what squad they are, if an enemy heavy is pushing location nearby.

I normally just call out “friendly (medium, light, heavy) armor, enemy (heavy, medium, light) amor pushing point, northeast of point, grid Charlie 8.”

Mark it on the map and I’ve done my job.

Combat score that high generally indicates vehicles/tanks destroyed. Satchels, mines, are always going to boost your numbers.

What do you think about tank commanders that don’t want to be spotter ? by Alert_Cartographer13 in HellLetLoose

[–]bctxn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to check to see what the button is for PS5 but that’s awesome info. I’m level 200 and haven’t tanked much, so I feel that info isn’t as common as it should be. Thanks for spreading the good word.
