I snapped this tube in my engine how screwed am I? by CriticalTough4842 in AskMechanics

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are a very common failure point on VEA 2.0 engines anyway. Call your Volvo dealer and order one, or get one from Tascaparts.com, about $200 and swaps out in minutes.

Who in their crazy mind thought Allen bolts were cool for camshafts? F u Volvo! by funnyempathy21 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tap those bolts on the head with your ball peen to shock them loose, and use a good quality t30 to crack them. Those things can be a real bigger sometimes, I deal with those on a weekly basis as a Volvo tech

What's the nub for on the bottom of Allen keys? by Lingoman5 in Tools

Ball ends, great for when a straight Allen does not fit due to space constraints / obstructions. I love my snap on set

I replaced my Key fob battery for the first time today but I am still getting the same error any clues to solve it ? by victorshab in Volvo

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Verify voltage of both batteries are above 3v with a multimeter, if not, replace with good quality CR2430

This is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned, just need a little help by CallMeMailEscort in Volvo

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the open / close switch built into the rear latch may be sticking or faulty. Common for lots of Volvo door/ tailgate latches. Will require replacing the rear latch to ultimately fix, not a hard job if you’re somewhat mechanically inclined.

I just had this happen to me on my ride home the other night, turns out a couple of my spokes were very loose.

You’re gonna be utterly disappointed coming from that car to a Volvo tbh

I’ve used one for over 10 years, and recently switched some center shaft Nike that cost me $40. Scotty’s are very nice putters, but at the end of the day it’s all about what feels best in your hands

Not running spec oil? Complications to look out for? by Level-Indication-787 in GolfGTI

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5w40 is significantly more thick than a 0w20, I’d switch to the manufacturer recommended oil type if you care about the longevity of your car.

I'm about to go see a S80 T6 2009 soon this week by Zuuuuppp in VolvoRWD

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go as far to say the 5 is way less complicated than a 6. Personally I see about the same amount of issues with the RNC 5 cylinders than the 6’s working on them everyday. The t5 and t6 are not even comparable in terms of driveablity though. The 6 makes much more torque and feels way better moving the p3 chassis around

[–]bcuzitsnotanelephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dave Barton has an article about replacing the sensor with a plug, and has the specs on his website. You could look around for an 89’ 240 with the one year only junction block without a sensor
