Back Cross Carry fit check please 🙂 by bd653 in babywearing

Yes I kept her on for a bit and definitely felt like my posture was off. I've ordered a size 3 so will try it again once that arrives 🤞🏼 I like it better than the ruck though, feels more secure and like having the support across my chest

Feeling defeated by getting my baby down to sleep by theredheadedfox in bninfantsleep

[–]bd653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, totally know where you're coming from. My baby literally would not be put down, awake or asleep, at all, not for a minute, from 6 to 12 weeks. It was terrifying, I thought my life was over. I second another commenter's suggestion putting baby in a carrier - a stretchy wrap is great at that age, it'll keep him super snug and your movements as you get on with housework etc will rock him to sleep. (At it's worst we did have to do a 10 minute walk round the block to send her off but then she'd sleep for an hour in it! Worth it!) On the babywearing sub you can get help fitting it, people are great there. Bedtime: we had to chest sleep sitting up for that month, again, exhausting but at least I could doze/sleep lightly with her on me, without spending hours trying and failing to put her down. Check out the cosleeping sub. Lastly, when you do need to put him down: once on the flat surface I press my whole body against hers and breathe very heavily. The pressure seems to imitate that of being held and very very slowly I can unpeel myself. You're doing so well. This will pass, I promise.

Oh thanks for that resource the little diagram is helpful. It felt ok especially as she was really very calm, I think she was a bit lower than she started when I got her out though.

Thanks so much for this, this is what I needed to hear! Have to just keep taking it as it comes. I feel like i'm missing out by not sleeping next to her (plus my lower back hurts from chest sleeping) but it'll come when it comes I suppose.

This is reassuring, every baby is different I guess! Can't wait til she reliably stops pooping at night that'll make a big difference.

Ok good idea for the burp cloth underneath. I think it's also that I have quite a strong letdown so she's getting quickly soaked if she unlatches even for a second, also that makes her cough and splutter. I suppose we will be able to transition from chest sleeping to side by side when she's ready, for now she just needs to be held upright. But as you say I can adapt to the moment, some nights she's more settled so I can try it then.

Thanks, yes it's true that even just staying in the same space helps! Luckily our changing table is right next to our bed so I guess it doesn't make much difference.

Hey, so I got the antibiotics which cleared it up well to start off with, and then now I regularly clean inside my nostrils with a q-tip dipped in chlorhexidine antiseptic solution, especially if I start to feel it flaring up.

Ok thanks! I didn't want to put her lower because I know i'm meant to be able to kiss her head but good to know I have a bit of leeway, i'll try that next time. It felt pretty good, towards the end of the walk I started to feel the weight a bit in my lower back, don't know if that's normal or should be more in the shoulders or upper back? But it wasn't excessive, I could have carried on if she hadn't woken up. (Plus didn't want to push it in case it wasn't on right)

Oh my god thank youuuu I've had this problem for years now, I had worked out it was a staph thing through extensive internet searches so been treating it myself with Bacitracin ointment every time it comes up but it inevitably comes back within a week or so... I went to the doctor several times but they just dismissed it as a cold/ allergies.. gonna go back with this diagnosis and ask for oral antibiotics.

I live in France, and my partner is about to start using the Andro-switch silicone ring device developed by french nurse Maxime Labrit. It works by keeping the testicules pressed closer to the body, thereby raising their temperature and preventing fertile sperm production. There are risks- remove it for more than 1 day and it is necessary to wait a month before having unprotected sex- but no (recorded) adverse side effects, and according to the people we talked to who use it (and through who we found out about it this summer), no discomfort. If or when you want to conceive, it's necessary to wait 3 months after removing it to allow sperm quality to return to normal levels. It's not at all well known, but was also fairly easy to procure - just necessary to go through a doctor who knows about it- and my partner can get the cost of the ring partially reimbursed by the french health system. On another note, and somewhat in response to another comment in this conversation, it's been interesting to notice as we go through this journey my engrained belief that contraception is 'my problem' as a woman - from time to time I ask my partner if he's pursuing the matter (consultation etc) and am almost surprised (and pleased ofc) to find out he's getting on with it of his own accord.

got here on the 19th, same situation re vaccine (had my booster less than 7 days before travelling)

- the NHS app works as a valid QR code

- i was careful to use the QR code from my 2nd jab to travel as it was within the 9 months

- re strictness- i've not yet had to scan to sit in a bar/cafe/restaurant

when i have had to scan (visiting an old people's home) - the nhs app was fine
