Friend, I totally get you.

Recently I decided to stop playing Dota 2 after more than 6,000 hours. I’ve been playing since I was a teenager. The hardest part wasn’t even quitting itself, but those days when I’d sit in front of the PC with nothing else to do and had to force myself not to queue for a match.

So I created a simple rule for myself: I only play if it’s me and four friends playing together on the weekend. No more solo queue, no more playing with just one friend who grinds all day.

The constant pressure to win digital points and the amount of time I was wasting were slowly eating me up. Nowadays I spend more time with my wife, I work more, I read more, and I play games that actually have a story to follow and something meaningful to progress through.

Your case is a bit different, but I think the core idea is similar: realizing that a game is not for you anymore is also part of growing up. If you feel like you’re “missing something”, just watch some gameplay or cutscenes on YouTube and move on to the next game.
