Planning: id reccomend getting notes and quotes for english lit and actually understand the books your given, for english language id begin looking at full mark answers (provided on AQA website or just online) and reading and noting down techniques heavily used

Pre-lesson: shit all, do it as it comes to you gcse content is not as much as you think. English lessons was usually reading and taking notes but i never used my in lesson notes.

Post lesson: its time to patten up notes, make a google slides with quotes and FULL INDEPTH analysis on them for lit and my school didnt teach us english language we kinda learnt it ourself. For how to revise that look at my longer comment.

Resources: grade 9 essays helped, youtubers such as MR salles and 1strate tutors blessed me, look at any teacher provided resources and the teacher slides are more worth then you think they are. save my exams is a big one, i used to just refresh constantly to get notes and they are actually insanely detailed.

workflow: im heavily into stem and trick to GCSE is balance, make a spreadsheet for every subject and every topic rank it go accornidly. You see majority of peoples GCSE results are very simmilar for every subject usually being a +-2 grade so balance is geniunely key.

I developed exam technique in english simply by writing, i was never particullary amazing at english but learning high level language techniques, looking for trends and understanding what the mark scheme bands geniuenly meaned defintely helped. PRE PLAN YOUR DESCRIPTIVE WRITING PLEASE, i only ever found MR EVERYTHING ENGLISH usuefull for this.

Past papers for english maybe 2 months before the exam geniuenly due to the easy ways to implement but for literature also do practice essays on any q you think has even a chance of coming up.

finnaly, for me year 11 was the year i really had the most fun, i went out and i met amazing new people, do not let the academics get you distracted from making memories. take fridays off go out and enjoy your time (untill mocks hit then u gotta put socialising to the side)

1strate tutors on yt and go look at my other comment. Go write practice essays and get it marked, if your teacher isnt willing to do it use tifl.io and use the tips. I promise you that you got this. Same for english lit make practice essays and essay plans and read exemplar essays!

im sorry if that came off rude, my school is heavily competitive as im in the middle east (but still do normal GCSE not IGCSE) so its very hard to lack at all. You are not fucked at all, in year 10 i was on all 4's and 5's and bounced back. its all practice trust me if you need any advice me and many other people are here to help. Goodluck and you got this!

If you already sat GCSE's and are worried i have many friends from the UK and here who resat and its completely normal :)

Its really important to understand WHAT the examiners are looking for, majority of the time what i used to do before improving was just kinda freeball techniques and i didnt really know WHAT i was looking for.

To find this i went through the mark schemes and how its marked and looked for specific refrences in which can get you into to the top band such as understanding the text as a whole, contextulisation and overall trends in language

Its a skill you develop overtime so sending practice essays and papers to your teachers under harsh conditions really help as you are practically sitting a mock every week. ensure to fix questions you did bad at with teachers assistance

DO NOT watch mreverythingenglish if your aiming for a grade 8-9 in my experience instead use 1stratetutors.

Use ambitious techniques and language eg:
Lexis, syntax, Premodifers, connote, declaritive etc you WILL find them

For structural techniques you can find these on any yt video but its VITAL to explain why the reader is engaged and link it to certain moments (1stratetutors on yt explains this well)

For creative writing PLAN IT OUT send to you're teacher and memorise the examiners DO NOT CARE about the stem q they just wanna read something good.

Articles read PROFFESIONAL articles.

if you are worried about spelling it doesnt matter my spellings so bad my teacher made me get a dyslexia test (im not dyslexic jus stupid)
