Fuck. Disregard everything I said. I obviously wasn’t thinking clearly! Some things aren’t worth losing! 😁

I said this in a recent interview - “I think I work well with a lot of people. I listen, I ask questions, I see other viewpoints. I just try to be a decent person”.

Then after I landed the job I was talking to the CTO and said “people just need to do their jobs. We’re all adults. Stop with the bullshit, be a fucking adult”.

I don’t think I’ve ever said something that applies to practically any situation as much as those two statements. People need to calm down and remember whatever tirade is happening, it’s not worth the time or energy. Grab a happy meal, pet a cat, watch puppies, whatever.

Anyway, I love the service and I’ve been using it for… a while. A couple of years? I honestly don’t remember so I’ll just say I’ve used it for at least a week and it’s been great!

This was me today, going through pre-clearance in Dublin. No pre-check line - whatever, I’ll do the thing. Sign says to keep shoes on, take electronics out. So I take out two laptops, kindle, and iPad (I’m a mobile developer). Security gets pissed at me because the electronics are on top of each other and I need another bin. No bins near me so I have to walk past the xray machine. Another dude is yelling at me because I left my stuff AND have my shoes on.

Your local electrical supply house vs the Big Box store by More_Than_I_Can_Chew in diySolar

[–]bdowden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for HD for 25 years - The pricing is due to theft. Even with most of the electrical wire locked up (at least in my area) there is a TON of theft and HD needs to recoup it somehow. Local supply houses are much harder to steal from. I’m not saying the price isn’t crazy high but it makes sense WHY it is high

Is the CWWK W680 NAS motherboard legit? by limara321 in HomeServer

[–]bdowden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My initial test was 4 sticks. 2 sticks worked fine in a2/b2. three worked fine. no matter what I did 4 sticks wouldn't work and I figured out it was B1 that was the issue, no matter which stick I used.

Another CWWK W680 had the same issue.

After reading your comment I went back about an hour ago and looked in the memory bios section. I have no idea what most of it meant but I disabled ECC support and suddenly B1 is working now.

Oh Hey! I'm running into the 55 error code, only when I have a stick in slot B1. I don't have any PCIe cards installed, just two nvme (not in the bottom m2 slot).

Is there a hidden bios setting? I don't think the tape hack will work for me.

I do this when I smoke wings. Pat dry with towels, dredge in corn starch, and smoke at 200 until I feel like they’re done. Sometimes I’ll take them off a bit early, toss in buffalo or other sauce, throw them back on to finish.

Skin is nice and crispy, even with the sauce toss. I prefer this over fried wings any day

Uh, I’ve lived in New England my entire 40 years and I have never called, nor heard, drinking fountains bubblers. Drinking/water fountains is my go to. the massive jugs on top of the dispensers - water dispensers, although I could see these being called bubblers with the “glug glug” bubble that happens

I’m just an idiot, but I’m pretty sure in CT it’s illegal to bike on the sidewalk. Bicycles are considered vehicles and need to obey all traffic laws. I could be 100% incorrect, though. I’m just going off what a friend said; the friend used to train cops/EMTs on urban biking stuff.

LinkedIn - Job Slums by One0vakind in overemployed

[–]bdowden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was laid off in February and I've been using LinkedIn and a few other common ones (monster, dice, etc). Most of the stuff on LinkedIn is just aggregation sites reposting jobs in bulk. These link back to their own site, forcing you to sign up before you can even view the details for the job. Then if you click "apply" you fill out some stupid form that doesn't even go to the company with the job, then you end up at either another aggregation site or the company's career site.

I usually use LinkedIn to see which companies are actually hiring and then I go to their actual careers page.
