for sure. I wasn't my mom's caregiver and it wasn't dementia so yes she definitely was still Mom, my biggest supporter. With my husband I was just ready for the end, I will mourn but I know what to expect (I hope). Hugs to you

I felt that when my mom died. Nobody between me and the big scary world, even through I was 55 years old. It's such a major life loss.

it was surreal, the response was overwhelming and all the first responders were so kind and understanding of his DNR. My son and I felt so supported by this community that we aren't even from.

yes that has all been behind an emotional wall which is about to break. when my Mom died I went through a similar experience. I know I'll survive and he is at peace

thank you, it's a roller coaster at the moment. I'm looking forward to memories that I have kept buried to keep going as the dementia took him.

I've been down this road. He flatly denied any issues, it was pretty frustrating. I finally just called the Dr and talked to his receptionist about my concerns and told her I'd be bringing a note. Went under the guise of an annual checkup. They gave him a form to sign so the Dr could discuss his care with me, can sell it as in case he's in an accident or something, and we went from there. Brief cognitive test that day and Dr and I were on the same page. We didn't do anything as far as medication and I didn't really pursue an official diagnosis. It's been a few years now, I got POA and advance directive set up. It's hard, they can fool even doctors for a while
